Additional space may be carved out from at least one of a plurality of NSDs in a cluster file system, upon detecting an unbalanced load between the plurality of NSDs, while maintaining a predetermined level of usage according to a performance profile of the plurality of NSDs.

WRITE SORT MANAGEMENT IN A MULTIPLE STORAGE CONTROLLER DATA STORAGE SYSTEM

In one aspect of write sort management in accordance with the present disclosure, a write sort task related to write sorting a write list of data units to be destaged to storage, is assigned to a storage controller to improve the load balance among plural storage controllers. In one embodiment, available processing capacities of each of the storage controllers is determined by, for example, polling each of the storage controllers. A write sort task may then be assigned to a selected storage controller as a function of determined available processing capacities of each of the storage controllers to improve the load balance among the storage controllers. Other aspects and advantages are provided, depending upon the particular application.

Differentiated workload telemetry

In an approach for generating differentiated workload telemetry data, a processor corresponds one or more services with a workload related telemetry generating an event emitter. A processor performs a correlation analysis of corresponding relationship and connection among connected resources and current traffic into and out of the one or more services. A processor labels domain context for each telemetry event. A processor communicates each telemetry event to a global event handler. A processor performs a cross-correlation in real-time of telemetry data with the global event handler. A processor updates a real-time differentiated workload report.

Virtualizing isolation areas of solid-state storage media

The present disclosure describes apparatuses and methods for virtualizing isolation areas of solid-state storage media. In some aspects, a storage media accelerator determines, via a storage media interface, a geometry of solid-state storage media. The accelerator selects, based on the geometry, an area of the solid-state storage media as an isolated unit of storage. A physical address of the isolated unit of storage is then mapped to a virtual address. The accelerator exposes, via the virtual address, the isolated unit of storage through a host interface to enable host access of the isolated unit of storage. The accelerator may also remap the isolated unit of storage to other areas of the solid-state storage media without host interaction. By so doing, the accelerator may provide virtualized isolation and partitioning functionalities to a host, while efficiently handling lower-level storage media functions, such as wear leveling and load balancing, without host involvement.

Systems and methods for managing data storage using a distributed file system are provided. In one example, a relocation event is detected that indicates a relocation is to be initialized. The relocation is initialized by identifying a destination node of a distributed storage system for the relocation of a set of objects in a cluster database, including a logical block device, a corresponding logical aggregate, and a corresponding file system volume. A state of each of the set of objects is changed to offline. The set of objects are then relocated from an originating node of the distributed storage system to the destination node in which the corresponding logical aggregate is relocated after the logical block device and the corresponding file system volume is relocated after the logical aggregate. Finally, the state of each of the set of objects is changed to online.

Methods and systems for electronic storage are provided. A storage system comprises a plurality of storage system front ends, a plurality of storage system back ends, and a plurality of solid state drive (SSD) agents. Each storage system front end resides on a server of a plurality of servers. Each server of the plurality of servers comprises one or more storage system back ends of the plurality of storage system back ends. Each storage system front end is able to receive I/O requests and relay information associated with the I/O requests to a relevant storage system back end. The relevant storage system back end communicates metadata associated with the I/O request to an SSD via an SSD agent.
