MULTI-PLATFORM DATA STORAGE SYSTEM SUPPORTING PEER-TO-PEER SHARING OF CONTAINERS
A multi-platform data storage system that facilitates sharing of containers including one or more virtual storage resources. The multi-platform data storage system can, for example, include a storage interface configured to enable access to a plurality of storage platforms that use different storage access and/or management protocols, the plurality of storage platforms storing data objects in physical data storage; and a storage mobility and management layer providing virtual management of virtual storage resources corresponding to one or more data objects stored in the plurality of storage platforms, the storage mobility and management layer including at least a transfer module coupled to at least one network and configured to transfer at least one of the data objects. The transfer module can transfer the at least one of the data objects between the multi-platform data storage system and another data storage system.
I/O driven data transfer in a data processing network
A method and apparatus are provided for assigning transport priorities to messages in a data processing system. An incoming message at an input/output (I/O) interface of the data processing system includes a message identifier and payload data. Match information, including an indicator or whether the message identifier of the incoming message matches an identifier of a request in a receive queue (RQ), is used to assign a transport priority value to the incoming message. The incoming message is transported to the destination node through an interconnect structure dependent upon the assigned transport priority value.
DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM
A data processing system is disclosed, which relates to a technology for implementing a convergence memory system provided with a plurality of memories. The data processing system includes a compute blade configured to generate a write command to store data and a read command to read the data, and a memory blade configured to selectively performed read and write operations in response to the read and write commands in a plurality of memories. The compute blade has a memory that stores information about performance characteristics of each of the plurality of memories, and is configured to determine priority information through which eviction of a cache line is carried out based on the stored information.
MOBILITY AND MANAGEMENT LAYER FOR MULTI-PLATFORM ENTERPRISE DATA STORAGE
A multi-platform data storage system configured to accessing a plurality of storage platforms that use different storage access and/or storage management protocols. The multi-platform data storage system can, for example, include a storage mobility and management layer providing virtual management of data stored in the plurality of storage platforms, and a storage protocol converter operatively coupled between the storage mobility and management layer and the plurality of storage platforms. During access and/or management communication from the storage mobility and management layer to a particular one of the storage platforms, the storage protocol converter can operate to convert the access and/or management communication from a layer protocol used by the storage mobility and management layer to the storage access protocol used by the particular one of the storage platforms.
MULTI-PLATFORM DATA STORAGE SYSTEM SUPPORTING CONTAINERS OF VIRTUAL STORAGE RESOURCES
A multi-platform data storage system configured to maintain containers including one or more virtual storage resources. The multi-platform data storage system can, for example, include a storage interface configured to enable access to a plurality of storage platforms that use different storage access and/or management protocols, the plurality of storage platforms storing data objects in physical data storage; and a storage mobility and management layer providing virtual management of virtual storage resources corresponding to one or more data objects stored in the plurality of storage platforms, the storage mobility and management layer including at least a container management sub-system that manages logical containers that contain one or more of the virtual storage resources.
Recovering data in a dispersed storage network
A method for execution by a dispersed storage and task (DST) client module includes issuing a read threshold number of read slice requests are issued to storage units of the set of storage units. One or more encoded slices of a selected read threshold number of encoded slices are received. When a next encoded data slice of a decode threshold number of encoded data slices is received within a response timeframe, outputting of the next encoded data slice is initiated. When the next encoded data slice is not received within the response timeframe, receiving of another decode threshold number of encoded slices of the set of encoded slices is facilitated. The other decode threshold number of encoded slices are decoded to produce recovered encoded data slices, where the recovered encoded data slices includes at least a recovered next encoded data.
Selecting storage resources in a dispersed storage network
A method for execution by a dispersed storage and task (DST) client module includes determining a storage unit performance level for storage units of a set of storage units. Storage resources of the set of storage units are temporarily selected based on the storage unit performance levels to produce identities of candidate primary storage slots. Identities of candidate primary storage slots are exchanged with another DST client module. Selection of primary storage slots of the candidate primary storage slots is coordinated with the other non-transitory computer readable storage medium to produce identities of selected primary storage slots. Data stored in the set of storage units is accessed using the selected primary storage slots.
Methods and apparatus for a distributed shared memory for device synchronization
In some embodiments, an apparatus includes a memory having an instance of a distributed shared memory and a processor operatively coupled to the memory. The processor is configured to instantiate a first instance of a front-end application and receive, at the first instance of the front-end application, and input signal associated with a state of the first instance of the front-end application. The processor is configured to insert a value into a field data structure defined in the instance of the distributed shared memory and associated with an event source configured through a second instance of the distributed shared memory. The processor is configured to generate an event object indicative of the value inserted into the field data structure and send a signal to update the second instance of the front-end application.
Memory network with memory nodes controlling memory accesses in the memory network
According to an example, a memory network includes memory nodes. The memory nodes may each include memory and control logic. The control logic may operate the memory node as a destination for a memory access invoked by a processor connected to the memory network and may operate the memory node as a router to route data or memory access commands to a destination in the memory network.
