INTELLIGENT CACHE WITH READ DESTRUCTIVE MEMORY CELLS

A data storage system can employ a read destructive memory configured to fill a first cache with a first data set from a data repository prior to populating a second cache with a second data set describing the first data set with the first and second cache each having non-volatile ferroelectric memory cells. An entirety of the first cache may be read in response to a cache hit in the second cache with the cache hit responsive to a data read command from a host and with the first cache being read without a refresh operation restoring the data of the first cache.

One or more non-transitory computer-readable media can store program instructions that, when executed by one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to perform steps of organizing storage as a set of storage regions, each storage region having a fixed size; and for each storage region, storing a storage allocation structure of the storage region formatted in a first format selected from a format set including at least two formats, determining a change of an allocation feature of the storage region, based on the allocation feature of the storage region, selecting, from the format set, a second format of the storage allocation structure, and reformatting the storage allocation structure in the second format.

A data storage device includes a non-volatile memory (NVM) device and a controller coupled to the NVM device. The controller is configured to create a bad block table that tracks bad blocks of the NVM device, send the bad block table to a host memory location, and check the bad block table to determine whether a block to be read or written to is bad. The controller is further configured to request information on a bad block from the bad block table located in the host memory location, determine that the requested information is not available from the host memory location, and retrieve the requested information from a location separate from the host memory location. A sum of the times to generate a request to check the flat relink table, execute the request, and retrieve the requested information is less than a time to process a host command.

ADJUSTABLE TIMER COMPONENT FOR SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES

Systems, apparatuses, and methods related to an adjustable timer component are described. A memory device includes, a memory controller coupled to the memory device comprising an adjustable timer component. The adjustable timer component is configured to receive a timer generation request and, responsive to receiving the request, store in a cache an active timer entry corresponding to a particular first address, generate a timer corresponding to an active timer entry and the particular first address, and monitor the timer to determine when the timer expires. Responsive to the expiration of the timer, dequeue the timer entry and invalidate the timer entry stored in the cache. The memory device can also include command logic configured to, prior to issuing a second command, query the cache of the adjustable timer component to determine if the cache includes an active timer entry corresponding to the particular second address.

Techniques for storing data involve estimating a hit ratio of a digest cache associated with a target storage device, the digest cache recording a digest of data that is stored in the target storage device after preprocessing; generating, according to a determination that the hit ratio is lower than a predetermined threshold, a digest for target data to be stored and performing the preprocessing; and storing, according to a determination that the digest of the target data is missing in the digest cache, the preprocessed target data in the target storage device, and recording the digest of the target data in the digest cache. Such techniques can achieve good system performance in both cases of high data repetition and low data repetition.

A size associated with a content file is determined to be greater than a threshold size. In response to the determination, file metadata of the content file split and stored across a plurality of component file metadata structures. The file metadata of the content file specifies tree structure organizing data components of the content file and each component file metadata structure of the plurality of component file metadata structures stores a portion of the tree structure. A snapshot tree is updated to reference the plurality of component file metadata structures for the content file.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR MANAGING RACE CONDITIONS DURING USAGE OF A REMOTE STORAGE LOCATION CACHE IN A NETWORKED STORAGE SYSTEM

Methods and systems for a networked storage system are provided. One method includes: generating, by a first node, a dummy entry in a storage location cache of the first node, the dummy entry associated with a read request received by the first node for data stored using a logical object owned by a second node; receiving, by the first node, an invalidation request to invalidate any storage location entry associated with the data, the invalidation request sent in response to the second node receiving a write request to modify the data; invalidating, by the first node, the dummy entry; receiving, by the first node, a response to the read request from the second node with the requested data; and replacing, by the first node, the dummy entry with a storage location entry and invalidating the storage location entry based on the invalidated dummy entry.

System and method for lockless destaging of metadata pages

A method, computer program product, and computing system for receiving a flush request for a metadata page stored in a storage array of a multi-node storage system. The flush request may be queued on a flush request lock queue on at least one node of the multi-node storage system. One or more flush requests may be processed, via multiple nodes of the multi-node storage system, on the metadata page based upon, at least in part, the flush request lock queue.
