The computing system can transmit instructions to a first one of the storage and retrieval apparatuses to render the status of the first physical object on the interactive display of the storage and retrieval apparatus.

An electronic locker system for parcel deposit and pick-up, comprising: a remote shipping system, a long distance communication network, at least one mobile device communicating via the long distance communication network with the remote shipping system, at least one parcel locker constituted of at least one autonomous compartments cluster including at least one compartment equipped with a door and including a locking module, which electronically controls locking and unlocking of the door and which establishes a local communication with the at least one mobile device via a short distance communication, wherein the locking module comprises: an energy management module configured for managing transitions of energy modes and allowing the at least one autonomous compartments cluster to be run in a deep sleep mode or in a sleep mode and regularly allowing a wake-up from said deep sleep mode to said sleep mode, a radio transceiver module equipped with an antenna, and at least one processor running a firmware configured for, while in the sleep mode, regularly emitting with the radio transceiver module a broadcasted short message towards the at least one mobile device.

Package-receiving-lockers (PRLs) may have a collapsible-locker portion and door-attachment-structure. PRLs may exist in a substantially collapsed configuration for storing the given PRL or for otherwise minimizing a footprint of the given PRL; and these PRLs may exist in a substantially deployed (expanded) configuration for acting as a secure object storage location. Regardless of configuration (deployed or collapsed), PRLs may be removably attached to side-hinged-doors with the door-attachment-structure, in such a way so as not to impair operation of the given door. The PRLs may have various electronics for facilitating access (e.g., locking and unlocking the collapsible-locker), delivery confirmation, and mitigating theft. These electronics, along with specialized software, may allow an intended recipient (e.g., a buyer), a shipper/delivery person (or shipping/deliver robot), and/or a seller/vendor to access the PRL in a controlled and documented manner. At least some of these electronics may be in wireless communications with other electronic devices.

The lockbox remote service or authorized user/owner may set access codes for the deliverer to open and place a parcel in a lockbox's compartment for safe and secure storage until the user arrives home.

Repositories are constructed to provide a secure enclosure for the parcels housed therein when exposed to a range of environmental and operating conditions. Central control circuitry in operative connection with the repositories is operative to control access to the compartment spaces and cause the compartments to be selectively accessible so that selected parcels may be placed therein or removed therefrom.

The mailbox features a microprocessor to receive instructions from the remote electronic device, and transmits information using a wireless communication channel established by a wireless transceiver to the remote electronic device. The remote electronic device is connected to the mailbox and accesses the mailbox through an installed software application. The mailbox has a door for opening and closing the mailbox, a servo motor connected to a pair of springs to control movement of the mailbox door, a high resolution camera to capture video of inside and around the mailbox, a mail sensor to detect the presence of a parcel in the mailbox and a solar panel configured to provide electrical power to the components of the mailbox.
