A system and method for providing marine connectivity that include receiving sensor data from a plurality of sensors of a watercraft. The system and method also include determining watercraft operational data associated with an operation of the watercraft. The system and method further include communicating the watercraft operational data to at least one external computing infrastructure associated with a user.

A cloud authentication system is disclosed. A request for an authentication setup for a first user of a first service provider is received. Additional information, such as authentication criteria, can further be received, such as from the first service provider. A set of stimuli to associate with a first user profile of the first user of the first service provider is stored.

There is provided a user terminal. A storage unit stores login information in response to execution of a login operation with respect to the user terminal with use of a first account that has first user identification information. The login information indicates that a current login state is based on the first user identification information. In the current login state, a request unit requests a reset of authentication-purpose knowledge information for a second account that has second user identification information associated with the first user identification information by providing the first user identification information indicated by the login information to a reset server.

A combination lock system includes a mobile communication device (10, 10′), a cloud server (20) and a combination lock (30, 30′). When the cloud server (20) determines that the mobile communication device (10, 10′) matches authentication information, the cloud server (20) outputs password information (22) corresponding to the authentication information to the mobile communication device (10, 10′), and the combination lock (30, 30′) obtains an electric energy and the password information (22) from the mobile communication device (10, 10′). An electronic book distribution system includes electronic devices that reset their passcodes after specified authentication failures. The passcodes of an individual electronic device is reset to a value that is generated using a predefined function of a randomly generated support code. The support code is displayed to the user, and the user is instructed to contact a support service in order to obtain the new passcode. The support service independently authenticates the user, calculates the new device passcode using the same predefined function used by the electronic device, and provides the new passcode to the user.

Systems, methods, and software technology for managing keys used to encrypt data at-rest and decrypt the data when serving requests for the data. In an implementation, a data service receives a request for data that has been encrypted at rest using a data key, wherein the data key has been encrypted using a policy key, and wherein the policy key has been encrypted using a root key. When the root key is unavailable, the data service requests a key service to decrypt the policy key using an alternative root key. When the data service receives the policy key in an unencrypted state from the key service, it decrypts the data key using the policy key and decrypts the data using the data key.

Embodiments disclosed herein are related to generating and using a private key recovery seed based on random words extracted from a generated story to recover the private key. An input story is received from a user. The story includes random words and filler words that were previously generated. The number of random words generated is based on an entropy level. The random words included in the story are extracted. This means that the user does not need to enter any random words that are not included in the story to recover the private key. The random words are input into a first key recovery mechanism to thereby generate a private key recovery seed. The private key recovery seed is then input into a second private key recovery mechanism, the second private key recovery mechanism generating a recovered private key upon performing a recovery operation on the private key recovery seed.

Data protection in a storage system that includes a plurality of Non-Volatile Memory Express (‘NVMe’) Solid State Drives (‘SSDs’), including: retrieving, from a plurality of NVMe SSDs (‘Non-Volatile Memory Express Solid State Drives’) of a storage system, one or more unencrypted shares of a master secret; reconstructing the master secret using the shares of the master secret; decrypting one or more encrypted device keys using the master secret; and using the decrypted device keys to perform a plurality of accesses to one or more of the NVMe SSDs.

Systems and methods are provided for performing operations including: receiving, via a messaging application of a user device, a request to recover access to an account of a user of the messaging application; accessing a first object corresponding to a first key; receiving, from a first friend of the user on the messaging application, a second object corresponding to a first portion of a second key; receiving, from a second friend of the user on the messaging application, a third object corresponding to a second portion of the second key; deriving the second key based on the second and third objects; and recovering access to the account of the user based on the first key and the second key.

One embodiment provides a method, including: receiving, in an application on an information handling device, a password reset request from a user; accessing, subsequent to the receiving, a data store comprising a list of answers that are responsive to a list of security questions; constructing, using the data store, a temporary password, wherein the temporary password consists of at least one answer selected from the list of answers; and providing, to the user, a prompt containing an indication of the temporary password, wherein the prompt comprises at least one security question, from the list of security questions, that corresponds to the at least one answer.
