DEFENDING AGAINST COMPUTING ATTACKS

A security service for detecting and/or deterring computing attacks. A security service maintains counters related to different attack types for applications or clients including distributed applications. Information regarding requests received by the application are processed by the security service. When any of the counters exceed an associated threshold, an action can be performed in response.

Disclosed examples include accessing a search term from a client device; accessing a first identifier, the first identifier corresponding to a first database proprietor, the first identifier to access first user information corresponding to a user of the client device; accessing a second identifier, the second identifier corresponding to a second database proprietor, the second identifier to access second user information corresponding to the user of the client device; providing the search term, the first identifier, and the second identifier in a message; and transmitting the message to a server.

Methods and systems for implementing parental controls

Methods and systems for a media guidance application that provides advanced parental control features such as allowing parents to establish parental controls in a dynamic and individualized manner and allowing parents to track and/or limit the amount of time that a child views media content of a particular type.

Methods, systems, apparatus and articles of manufacture to obfuscate metered data using a mask

A technique allows a smart meter to receive a mask. The smart meter may receive the mask from a utility company or an escrow service. The smart meter may apply the mask to original metered data on a continuous schedule, on a periodic schedule, or on a determined schedule, or on a randomized schedule to conceal the original metered data. The smart meter may apply different masks at different times. The smart meter transmits the concealed metered data as augmented metered data remotely to an electric utility via a communication network.

SECURELY PROVISIONING A TARGET DEVICE

The embodiments described herein describe technologies for Module management, including Module creation and Module deployment to a target device in an operation phase of a manufacturing lifecycle of the target device in a cryptographic manager (CM) environment. One implementation includes a Root Authority (RA) device that receives a first command to create a Module and executes a Module Template to generate the Module in response to the first command. The RA device receives a second command to create a deployment authorization message. The Module and the deployment authorization message are deployed to an Appliance device. A set of instructions of the Module, when permitted by the deployment authorization message and executed by the Appliance device, results in a secure construction of a sequence of operations to securely provision a data asset to the target device.

An information processing device according to the present invention includes: a memory; and at least one processor coupled to the memory. The processor performs operations. The operations includes: extracting, based on a first data extraction policy being a policy for extracting first processing data to be used for counting a first frequency related to a transmission source from communication data, the first processing data from the communication data; counting, based on a first counting policy being a policy for counting the first frequency relating to the transmission source in the first processing data, the first frequency related to the transmission source in the first processing data; and extracting, based on a first transmission-source extraction policy being a policy for extracting the transmission source and the first frequency, the transmission source.

FUSE BASED REPLAY PROTECTION WITH CONSERVATIVE FUSE USAGE

A TPM is implemented in an SOC for thwarting PIN state replay attacks. Programmable fuses are used as a counter and an on-die RAM stores a blown-fuse count and a TPM state that includes a PIN-failure count and a fuse count. TPM initialization includes incrementing the TPM state PIN-failure count if the blown-fuse count is greater than the TPM state fuse count. Once a PIN is received, if the TPM state PIN-failure count satisfies a PIN failure policy and the PIN is correct, the TPM state PIN-failure count is cleared, and if the PIN is incorrect, a fuse is blown and the blown-fuse count is incremented. If the fuse blow fails, TPM activity is halted. If the fuse blow succeeds, the TPM state PIN-failure count is incremented and the TPM state fuse count is set equal to the blown-fuse count. The TPM state is saved to off-die non-volatile memory.

Method and apparatus to enable a market in used digital content

Methods and apparatus to enable a distinction between “new” and “used” digital content and to enable a market in used digital content files between mobile phone terminals and an electronic store, securely, by means of a wireless telephony network and a server complex to handle contents right management, transaction reporting, inventory, content delivery, payment, and billing. A server receives a signal generated by a wireless user device that was sent over a wireless telephony network. The signal indicates an election for returning at least one previously purchased digital content item. The server deletes user rights for the at least one digital content item identified by the received signal and sends information to the user device that generated the signal. Access to the associated digital content item at the user device is removed according to the sent information.

Encrypted photographing method and system based on fingerprint recognition

An encrypted photographing method based on fingerprint recognition, and a system thereof are disclosed. The method may include: when detecting starting an encrypted photographing mode, obtaining an unlocking fingerprint for starting the encrypted photographing mode; when detecting a photographing instruction, generating an original photo and generating a key pair based on the unlocking fingerprint wherein the key pair may include an encryption key and a decryption key; encrypting the original photo according to the encryption key so as to generate an encrypted photo; and generating a corresponding system directory according to the decryption key, and saving the encrypted photo to the generated system directory. The present disclosure improves the security of a photo, and avoids leaking the content of an encrypted photo.

License usage management

A method may include obtaining a state diagram of a software management system, wherein the software management system manages at least a first software and configuring a license usage management system based on the state diagram.
