OBJECT IDENTIFICATION
A system includes a structure configured to hold items, at least one capacitive touch sensor, and an item scanner configured to move the capacitive touch sensor relative to the structure and to identification elements disposed on the items held by the structure. Each identification element represents a multi-digit code. The capacitive touch sensor is configured to generate a sensor signal comprising sequences of waveforms in response to movement of the capacitive touch sensor relative to the identification elements. Each sequence of waveforms includes the multi-digit code that identifies one of the items.
Accessory having a target generating structure for a mobile device
An accessory for a mobile device may include a target generating structure. The target generating structure may emit a targeting pattern of illumination into a field of view of a camera of the mobile device. The targeting pattern may facilitate proper positioning of the mobile device for capturing an image of a barcode. The accessory may secure to a corner of the mobile device. The accessory may send a request to the mobile device to establish a focus setting of the camera. The target generating structure may emit the targeting pattern after the accessory sends the request.
APPARATUS FOR READING BARCODES AND CAPTURING NON-BARCODE IMAGES
This patent specification describes an attachment for a mobile device. The attachment may have an attachment feature designed to be attached to a mobile device such as a smartphone, tablet, or smartphone/tablet with a camera. The attachment may also include an optics system and/or an illumination system that cooperates with the camera to facilitate the capture of decodable barcodes. The illumination system may include a targeting illumination system that facilitates proper positioning of the article and/or an exposure illumination system that helps illuminate the article during capture. The optics system may include a lens that modifies the depth of field and/or the size of the field of view of the camera, an aperture that helps define the field of view, a filter that prevents light of undesired wavelengths from reaching the camera, and/or a mirror that redirects the camera's optical pathway.
Tag reader, RFID system, and method for reading identification information
This tag reader can be applied to a chipless RFID tag having a plurality of resonance frequencies that are associated with identification information. The tag reader is provided with: a radiation unit that radiates electromagnetic waves within a predetermined millimeter wave or microwave frequency band so as to cause sweeping of the radiation frequency; and a detection unit that detects the plurality of resonance frequencies of a chipless RFID tag on the basis of the reflection characteristics of waves reflected from the chipless RFID tag when the electromagnetic waves are radiated.
BARCODE-READING SYSTEM
A barcode reading system for a mobile device that includes a camera and a white illumination source is disclosed. The barcode reading system includes a barcode reading enhancement accessory and a barcode reading application. The barcode reading enhancement accessory is secured to the mobile device and folds a field of view of the camera and a field of illumination of the white light source towards a target area at a tope side of the mobile device. The barcode reading application includes an image capture function for causing the mobile device to capture an image of a barcode, a decoder function for generating decoded data from the image of the barcode, and a relay function for sending the decoded data to a remote server. An operating system may obtain the barcode reading application from a remote application server.
Apparatus, methods and computer programs for enabling information to be read from an apparatus
An apparatus and method and electronic device, the apparatus comprising: a memory element configured to store information; a switching element coupled to the memory element; wherein the switching element is configured to be switched from a first state to a second state in response to an input signal provided by a capacitive touch screen and wherein when the switching element is in the second state the information can be read from the memory element by the capacitive touch screen.
BARCODE-READING SYSTEM
This patent specification describes a barcode-reading enhancement accessory for a mobile device having a barcode-reading capability. The accessory may include an outer case and an inner carriage. A mobile device is encased in the inner carriage, and the combination of the inner carriage and the mobile device may be accommodated in the outer case. The inner carriage is configured to accommodate a mobile device of a particular size such that a mobile device of a different size may be accommodated in the outer case using a different inner carriage. The accessory may also include an optic system to fold an optical path of a field of illumination of a light source of the mobile device and/or a field of view of a camera of the mobile device.
BARCODE-READING SYSTEM
This patent specification describes operations of a mobile device with barcode-reading capabilities and an application and license server. A mobile device may include a barcode-reading application downloaded from an application server. The barcode-reading application may operate in a base mode or an enhanced mode. In the base mode, the barcode-reading application may establish a network connection to a licensing server to obtain a license code, and determine at least one operating permission authorized by the license code. In the enhanced mode, the barcode-reading application may implement at least one enhanced barcode-reading function which corresponds to the at least one operating permission authorized by the license code. For example, the enhanced barcode-reading function may be a function of decoding a barcode symbology that the decoder is restricted from decoding in the base mode of operation.
Point of sale (POS) docking station system and method for a mobile tablet gun system with mobile tablet device
A points of sale (POS) docking station for interchangeably attaching and electronically coupling a mobile tablet gun system to a base form factor. An upper housing assembly is provided with a tablet cradle enclosure having a secondary printed circuit board (PCB1) for interchangeably mounting and electronically communicating with the mobile tablet. A lower housing assembly is rotationally connected to the upper housing assembly and includes a bar code scanner and a primary printed circuit board (PCB2). A secondary display screen is provided that is activated on when it is rotated over and parallel to the tablet cradle enclosure and turned off when rotated down and perpendicular to the tablet cradle enclosure. The secondary printed circuit board (PCB1) connected to the primary printed circuit board (PCB2) through a custom interface cable operable to facilitate electrical communication between the POS docking station and the mobile tablet gun system without operational delay.
