Auxiliary media unit transporter for media processing devices
10189660 · 2019-01-29 · ·

A media processing device with a housing includes: a motorized media unit transporter to drive a media unit along a media processing path between an unprocessed media unit source and a processed media unit output; an auxiliary media unit transporter including a roller connected to a converter, and a bias member connected between the converter and the housing. In a first operating mode, the auxiliary transporter receives the media unit from the transporter to drive the roller and the converter; rotation of the converter deforms the bias member from a resting position to a primed position. In a second operating mode initiated upon rotation of the converter to a bias release position, the auxiliary transporter propels the media unit by releasing the bias member from the primed position to drive rotation of the converter and the roller as the bias member returns to the resting position.

Apparatus for processing media

The present invention is to provide a media processing apparatus for enabling a plurality of discharge sections disposed one side of the apparatus to be disposed parallel inside saved space, the media processing apparatus is provided with a plurality of discharge sections (correct card discharge section and error card discharge section) disposed on one side of an apparatus housing, and a discharge member (card reverse section) that discharges a card C to each discharge section. In such a card processing apparatus, a width dimension (length dimension in the discharge direction of the card) of a discharge stacker of the first card discharge section is wider than a width dimension of the card C, and a width dimension of a frame body of the error card discharge section is narrower than the width dimension of the card C.

CARD PROCESSING SYSTEM WITH ADAPTABLE CARD TRANSPORT DELAY

Systems and methods where a delay time between a first card processing mechanism, such as a drop-on-demand printer that prints with UV curable ink, and a second card processing mechanism, such as a UV curing station, can be altered to adjust the travel time of the card from the first card processing mechanism to the second card processing mechanism. First and second card buffers can be provided between the first card processing mechanism and the second card processing mechanism. Each of the first and second card buffers is independently logically controlled to permit independent control of the transport time of a card through each card buffer. Alternatively, a single card buffer or more than two card buffers can be provided between the first card processing mechanism and the second card processing mechanism.

DUAL CARD TRANSPORT IN A CARD PROCESSING SYSTEM

A card processing system that includes a card transport mechanism having at least first and second separate card transports that separately transport first and second cards in the card processing system. Each of the first and second card transports can be actuated between a common card pick-up location and common card discharge position. At least one card processing mechanism that can perform a card processing operation is located between the common card pick-up location and the common card discharge location, with each of the first and second card transports transporting respective cards to the card processing mechanism to perform the card processing operation and transporting the cards from the card processing mechanism after processing.

IC TAG ISSUING APPARATUS

An IC tag issuing apparatus for writing identification data to IC tags, the IC tags arranged in multiple rows aligned as an IC tag continuous body, and issuing the result, the IC tags issuing apparatus including second antenna units arranged to face each row of the IC tags arranged in multiple rows, respectively, and functioning as a plurality of writing row antenna units for writing the identification data to the IC tags by the electromagnetic induction method and a third antenna unit arranged at a downstream side in the conveyance direction of the IC tag continuous body from the second antenna unit and functioning as an electric-wave type antenna unit for writing the identification data to the IC tags by the electric wave method and constituted to write the identification data by using the third antenna unit to the IC tag in which the identification data could not be written by using the second antenna unit.

CARD PRINTING MECHANISM WITH CARD RETURN PATH
20180240007 · 2018-08-23 ·

Card processing mechanisms and methods whereby after a card has been processed on one surface thereof at a card processing station such as, but not limited to, a card printing mechanism, the card can be recirculated back upstream of the card processing station along a return card travel path that is separate from the primary card travel path through the card processing station where the card can then be reintroduced back into the primary card travel path and transported through the card processing station a second time. As the card is being returned along the return card travel path, the card can be flipped over so that when the card is transported back through the card processing station, the opposite surface of the card can be processed.

Card reader and card lock mechanism

A card reader may include a card insertion port; a card conveying passage; and a card lock mechanism structured to prevent drawing of the card from the card insertion port. The card lock mechanism may include a motor; a lock member comprising a prevention pawl structured to move between a contact position and a retreated position; and a power transmission mechanism structured to transmit power of the motor to the lock member. The power transmission mechanism may include a final gear which is disposed on a most lock member side in a transmitting direction of power from the motor to the lock member. The lock member may include a sector gear which is engaged with the final gear.
