Image forming apparatus having energy saving mode learning function and controller therefor
An energy saving setting unit controls an image forming apparatus that makes a transition to a power saving state if a transition time passes without any prescribed operation in a normal state, and it includes: a unit for storing specific day information distinguishing a normal operation day and a specific day; an auto pattern updating unit determining the transition time in a normal operation day based on past operational status of the normal operation day of the image forming apparatus; a specific day pattern registering unit receiving and storing setting of the transition time of the specific day; and a switching unit, switching the state of conduction of the image forming apparatus using the transition time determined by the auto pattern updating unit and the stored transition time, on the normal operation day and on the specific day, respectively, based on the specific day information.
Image forming apparatus and method for controlling image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus includes a storage unit, a connector including a power supply terminal, a power supply unit for generating an operating voltage, a switch for turning on and off application of the operating voltage to the power supply terminal, a capacitor connected between the power supply terminal and the switch, and a control circuit configured to start up when a reset signal is changed. When the main power supply is turned on, the switch is temporarily turned on, and the reset signal is changed after the switch is turned off. After a start-up process is started, the control circuit interrupts the start-up process when recognizing that there is a connected device based on a result of comparison between a capacitor voltage and a threshold voltage.
Information processing apparatus control method of information processing apparatus and storage medium
Whether to enable a packet discarding mode is designated and, if an information processing apparatus operates in a power saving mode and the packet discarding mode is enabled, the information processing apparatus determines processing for a received packet based on a proxy response pattern, a WOL pattern, and a discard pattern, and, if the information processing apparatus operates in the power saving mode and the packet discarding mode is disabled, the information processing apparatus determines processing for the received packet based on the proxy response pattern and the WOL pattern without using the discard pattern.
Methods and apparatus for supplying power to a printer
An example disclosed method includes providing power transmissions from a power storage unit to a power converter of a printing device, the power converter to supply an available amount of power to a print mechanism, the print mechanism having separately controllable print elements; determining a required amount of power for an upcoming print operation that involves energizing the print elements, the print elements including a first group of the print elements and a second group of the print elements; when the required amount of power is less than or equal to the available amount of power, performing the print operation by simultaneously energizing the print elements; and when the required amount of power is greater than the available amount of power, performing the print operation by alternately energizing the first group of the print elements at first times and the second group of the print elements at second times.
Image forming system including image forming apparatus that can prohibit entry into sleep mode, control method for image forming apparatus in system concerned, and storage medium storing control program for image forming apparatus
An image forming system that is capable of preventing obstruction of transmission of a packet to an information processing apparatus from a USB device supporting USBNW due to the shift to the sleep mode. The image forming system includes an information processing apparatus, an image forming apparatus with a sleep mode, and a USB device that is connected to the information processing apparatus through the image forming apparatus and is controlled by the information processing apparatus. The image forming apparatus includes a first determination unit that determines whether the USB device supports USBNW, a second determination unit that determines whether a packet received from the information processing apparatus is processed by a module supporting USBNW, and a control unit that prohibits the image forming apparatus from shifting to the sleep mode when the USB device supports USBNW and when the packet is processed by the module supporting USBNW.
Adjusting power states for improved device performance
An electronic apparatus operates in a normal mode and a power-saving mode. A smaller amount of electricity is consumed in the power-saving mode than in the normal mode. The electronic apparatus includes a control section and a connection interface to which a reader that reads information from an external storage medium is connectable. When the electronic apparatus transits from the normal mode to the power-saving mode, if the reader is connected to the connection interface, the control section transits to a first power-saving mode in which both the connection interface and the reader are operable, or if the reader is not connected to the connection interface, the control section transits to a second power-saving mode in which a lower amount of electricity is consumed than in the first power-saving mode.
Image forming apparatus
A job storage unit stores a print job. An image forming unit forms a toner image on a sheet. A fixing unit fixes the toner image on the sheet by heating the toner image. A first authentication unit communicates with a communication medium in a first communication range. A second authentication unit communicates with the communication medium in a second communication range. A control unit controls the fixing unit to be heated if the print job associated with user information is stored in the job storage unit when the first authentication unit acquires the user information, and controls the fixing unit to be heated if the print job associated with the acquired user information is not stored in the job storage unit when the second authentication unit acquires the user information.
CLIENT APPARATUS AND METHOD
A client apparatus that communicates with a management server to receive an instruction from the management server, and a power supply of the client apparatus transitions to a sleep state when the client apparatus does not receive a user operation for a certain time period, and after the power supply of the client apparatus transitions to the sleep state, the power supply of the client apparatus temporarily transitions to a normal state without receiving a user operation. After the client apparatus communicates with the management server, the power supply of the client apparatus transitions from the normal state to the sleep state.
PRINTING APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD OF PRINTING APPARATUS
The printing apparatus of the present invention is a printing apparatus including: a power source switch that switches a power source to on or off; a control circuit configured to control supply or shutoff of power from the power source; and a measurement unit configured to measure a predetermined set time after the power source switch is switched to off, and the predetermined set time is set in accordance with processing being performed, and the control circuit performs control, in a case where the power source switch is switched to off, so as to shut off supply of power from the power source in accordance with completion of termination preparation of the processing being performed or completion of measurement of the predetermined set time in the measurement unit.
Preparation operation for image forming apparatus
An image forming apparatus performs a first preparation operation in a full color mode when power is supplied. The apparatus performs, when an image formation request is inputted after the first preparation operation completes, a second preparation operation in a designated color mode in accordance with the image formation request. When an image formation request is inputted during the first preparation operation, the apparatus skips the second preparation operation and performs image formation after the first preparation operation completes.
