Information processing apparatus and power-supply control method for information processing apparatus that interrupt power supply to a printing unit based on elapsing of a first time period and that interrupt power supply to a control unit based on elapsing of a second time period
An information processing apparatus includes a first unit and a second unit supplied with power that can be interrupted individually, a power supply switch configured to be operated by a user, to turn off a power supply of the information processing apparatus, a controller configured to perform shutdown processing of the information processing apparatus thereby interrupting supply of power to the first unit and the second unit, upon turning off of the power supply switch, a first timer unit configured to interrupt the supply of the power to the first unit, after a lapse of a first predetermined time after turning off the power supply switch, and a second timer unit configured to interrupt the supply of power to the second unit, after a lapse of a second predetermined time after turning off the power supply switch. The second predetermined time is longer than the first predetermined time.
PROCESSING APPARATUS AND COMMUNICATION METHOD
An embodiment of the invention has been made to solve a problem that it is impossible to store externally transmitted job information if a printer apparatus is in a hard-off state and it is, therefore, necessary to store the job information in an external apparatus on the transmission side. In the embodiment, a wireless communication unit which can transmit/receive data even if no power is supplied receives job information from an external terminal, and stores it in a non-volatile memory. When an information processing apparatus is supplied with power, and enters a normal activation state, it executes the job stored in the non-volatile memory.
ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD
An electronic apparatus operates in a normal mode and a power-saving mode. A smaller amount of electricity is consumed in the power-saving mode than in the normal mode. The electronic apparatus includes a control section and a connection interface to which a reader that reads information from an external storage medium is connectable. When the electronic apparatus transits from the normal mode to the power-saving mode, if the reader is connected to the connection interface, the control section transits to a first power-saving mode in which both the connection interface and the reader are operable, or if the reader is not connected to the connection interface, the control section transits to a second power-saving mode in which a lower amount of electricity is consumed than in the first power-saving mode.
ELECTRONIC APPARATUS AND CONTROL METHOD
An electronic apparatus is provided that operates in a first state, a second state that consumes less energy than the first state, and a third state that consumes less energy than the second state. The electronic apparatus includes a switch that activates or cancels an automatic power-on function of the electronic apparatus, and a processor that shifts the electronic apparatus from the first state to the second state, in a case where, when the electronic apparatus is in the first state, a state transition condition for shifting the electronic apparatus to another state that consumes less energy than the first state is satisfied, and the automatic power-on function is active, and shifts the electronic apparatus from the first state to the third state, in a case where the state transition condition is satisfied and the automatic power-on function is inactive.
IMAGE READING APPARATUS AND PRINTING APPARATUS
An image reading apparatus, comprising a memory that can transition from a normal mode to a power saving mode based on an inputted control signal, and a control unit that controls the control signal based on a synchronization signal that indicates a timing at which an image processing module outputs image data to a reading unit or a print unit.
Information processing apparatus, method of controlling the same, and storage medium for determining communication rate
An EEE function when an electricity saving function is enabled and a PHY communication rate setting method need to be taken into consideration. In relation to communication with an external apparatus by a communication unit, an information processing apparatus determines whether a power saving function of realizing power saving of the communication unit by stopping some of functions of the communication unit while establishing a link is enabled. In accordance with the result of the determination, a communication rate when the information processing apparatus operates in a power saving mode is decided.
Ethernet and USB powered printers and methods for supplying Ethernet and USB power to a printer
Ethernet and Universal Serial Bus (USB) powered printing devices are provided. In particular, Ethernet and USB powered printers and methods of Ethernet powering of printers that support high speed printing and/or data intensive printing. Such high-speed and/or data intensive printing operations are able to be Ethernet or USB powered by providing for a power storage unit within the printer device that is able be charged during non-printing periods and provide for necessary energy bursts to support such higher powered processes. In addition, the present invention provides for devices and methods that allow for printers to operate with main power provided by conventional power mains and for back-up or secondary power to be supplied by Ethernet or USB power. Additionally, the invention provides for Ethernet or USB powering, both primary and back-up, of the data and configuration settings in the printer control and image generating electronics. In the back-up power mode, the Ethernet or USB power insures that data and configurations are not lost during periods of main power outage. The invention also provides a printer and method that can optimize a printing operation, e.g., by adjusting the speed of the printing operation according to the power required for the operation and/or the power available.
Power controlling device, image processing apparatus, computer readable medium, and power controlling method
A power controlling device includes a detecting unit that detects a person in a detection area, a first imaging unit that takes an image of the person in a detecting range in an operating state, a second imaging unit that takes an image of a face of the person for use in user authentication in an operating state, and a power controller that supplies power to and brings the first imaging unit into the operating state if the person is detected, supplies power to and brings a processing unit that performs a process into an operating state if the approach of the person is determined on the basis of the taken image of the person, and supplies power to an brings the second imaging unit into the operating state during a period from the detection of the person to the shift of the processing unit to the operating state.
Preventing loss of print job information in a restart operation of a print engine
A control apparatus includes an execution controller, a stop controller, a connection processing unit, a print job information holding unit, a resumption controller, and a power supply controller. The execution controller causes an image forming unit to execute a print job. When the restart of the image forming unit is detected, the stop controller causes the image forming unit to stop the print job currently in process. When the completion of restart of the image forming unit is detected, the connection processing unit connects the control apparatus and the image forming unit. After the connection, the resumption controller resumes execution of the print job being stopped by the stop controller based on the print job information held by the print job information holding unit. The power supply controller supplies power to the print job information holding unit even if a failure requiring a restart of the image forming unit occurs.
Image forming apparatus with improved mechanisms for displaying a state of a rechargeable battery, and control method and storage medium thereof
Various embodiments of the present disclosure provide techniques and mechanisms for improving user convenience by displaying the state of a battery of an image forming apparatus in more detail. In a case where the state of the battery is an abnormal state in which the battery is not chargeable, the image forming apparatus displays information indicating that the battery is in the abnormal state and information about a remaining capacity of the battery.
