Image forming apparatus

A image forming apparatus includes a power control unit, an operation mode control unit, and a first timer. The power control unit performs control so as to switch between a normal power state for supplying the operation power supply voltage to the image forming unit, a first power saving state for not supplying the operation power supply voltage to the image forming unit, and a second power saving state having less power consumption than the first power saving state. The operation mode control unit performs control so as to switch a normal mode corresponding to a normal power state, a first power saving mode corresponding to a first power saving state, and a second power saving mode corresponding to a second power saving state.

Power management in a logic circuitry package

A logic circuitry package for a replaceable print apparatus component includes an interface including a power terminal and at least one logic circuit. The at least one logic circuit is configured to respond to communications sent to a first address via the interface and respond to communications sent to a second address via the interface. The at least one logic circuit is configured to in response to a first command sent to the first address, draw a first current on the power terminal; and in response to a hibernate command sent to the first address, respond to communications sent to the second address and draw a second current on the power terminal less than the first current.

Provided is a technique for controlling shift of an operation mode from a normal mode to a sleep mode. A printer according to one embodiment includes a print head, a cutter, a detection unit, and a mode control unit. The print head prints an image based on print data on a recording medium. The cutter cuts the recording medium based on a cut command. The detection unit detects that a duration time of an idle state in a first mode exceeds a predetermined time. The mode control unit changes, in response to the detection unit detecting that the duration time of the idle state exceeds the predetermined time, control of shifting an operation mode from the first mode to a second mode in which consumed power is lower than that of the first mode, in accordance with an event related to shift to the idle state.

A communication device may set an operation mode of the communication device to a first mode, the first mode being for repeatedly sending a polling signal to a specific server on the Internet so as to receive target data from the specific server. The communication device may receive a response including related information which is related to the target data from the specific server, and receive a response not including the related information from the specific server. The communication device may set the operation mode of the communication device to a second mode instead of the first mode in a case where a first predetermined condition is satisfied in a state where the operation mode of the communication device is the first mode, wherein the second mode is for receiving the target data from the specific server without sending the polling signal to the specific server.

Image forming apparatus

The image forming apparatus includes a fixing device that has a heater, and a required power calculation unit that determines a power Pfsr that is assumed to be required by the heater. Based on a difference between a required power that is determined by the required power calculation unit and a suppliable power, the image forming apparatus selects whether to start printing in a normal mode or to start printing in a power saving mode in which the power that is supplied to the heater is reduced in comparison to the normal mode. The power saving mode includes a plurality of modes, and when a CPU selects the power saving mode, the CPU selects one or a combination of modes from among the plurality of power saving modes based on the aforementioned difference.

A power-saving control apparatus includes a main system to perform one or more processes, including main circuitry, and a subsystem communicable with the main system, including sub-circuitry. The sub-circuitry: receives, from the main system, one or more pieces of request information regarding the one or more processes via a serial bus interface; creates and returns one or more pieces of response information corresponding to one or more pieces of predetermined request information among the received one or more pieces of request information; and when the main system is in a power-saving state, causes the main system to maintain the power-saving state in a case where the received request information is the predetermined request information. The power-saving state is a state in which power consumption is less than power consumption in a normal state in which the main system is ready to perform the one or more processes.
