20220176714 · 2022-06-09 ·

A tag writing device includes a conveying unit, an antenna, an acquiring unit, a determining unit, a selecting unit, and a deciding unit. The acquiring unit acquires reception intensities about a plurality of wireless tags. The determining unit determines an intermediate position between a start position and an end position as a position where a sum of reception intensities acquired while a mount is conveyed from the start position to the intermediate position and a sum of reception intensities acquired while the mount is conveyed from the intermediate position to the end position are closest. The selecting unit selects, as a target tag, the wireless tag, the intermediate position of which is determined as a position within a prediction range. The deciding unit decides a relative positional relation between the wireless tag and the antenna at a time when writing is performed.

The controller executes the first process once and then executes the second process. The first process is a process for back-feeding the continuous body, writing information to the RFID inlet, and then forward-feeding the continuous body until the RFID medium reaches the print start position. The second process is a process for stopping printing on the RFID medium halfway and writing information to the subsequent RFID medium following the RFID medium under printing when the RFID inlet of the subsequent RFID medium reaches the position allowing the communication with the antenna, and then resuming and completing printing on the RFID medium, printing on which was stopped halfway.

An automatic desktop personalization device, for security booklet documents, includes a camera, an inkjet printing module, a laser marking module, a chip encoding module, and a transport mechanism. The inkjet printing module includes a printing head and is configured to print within a printing zone. The laser marking module is configured to mark within a marking zone. The transport mechanism is configured to automatically transport a security booklet document along a Y-axis linear direction, from an entrance to an exit, through printing positions and a marking position. The entrance and the exit are the same. The printing head is movable alongside an X-axis linear direction that is perpendicular to the Y-axis linear direction. The inkjet printing module includes the transport mechanism. The laser marking head is adjacent an inkjet printing bridge, such that the marking zone and the printing zone are at least partly combined.

SHEET CONVEYANCE DEVICE AND METHOD FOR WRITING TO A WIRELESS TAG
20230247163 · 2023-08-03 ·

A sheet conveyance device has a sheet conveyance path with a first path and a second path. A wireless tag communication device can write information to a wireless tag on a sheet on the first and second paths and receive responses from the wireless tag. A controller controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while on the first path, then determines whether information has been written to the wireless tag on the first path according to a response received from the wireless tag. The controller switches a conveyance destination for the sheet to the second path if the information has not been written or to a discharge location if the information has been written. The controller then controls the wireless tag communication device to attempt to write information to the wireless tag while the sheet is on the second path.

AUTO IMAGE REGISTRATION USING A PRINTER SYSTEM CONFIGURED FOR PRINTING ON SUBSTRATE HAVING AT LEAST ONE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE

In some embodiments, a printer system may include a location sensor, a motor and driver assembly configured for adjusting a print position of a subsequent image on a substrate having a first side and a second side and at least one wireless communication device, and an optical sensor. Adjustment of the print position may be based on detection of the wireless communication device using the location sensor and a subsequent determination of whether the corresponding printed image is properly aligned with the wireless communication device using the optical sensor.

A wireless tag communication device for communicating with a wireless tag conveyed by a conveyance mechanism, includes radiation regions from which a radio wave is emitted. The radiation regions include a first region extending along a first direction crossing a conveyance direction of the tag and having a first length in the first direction, a second region extending along the first direction and having a second length in the first direction, a third region extending along the conveyance direction and having a third length in the conveyance direction, and a fourth region extending along the conveyance direction and having a fourth length in the conveyance direction. The device further includes a controller configured to cause at least one of the first, second, third and, fourth regions to emit a polarized wave towards the tag. Each of the first and second regions partially overlaps the third and fourth regions.

CONTROL DEVICE AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS
20220019751 · 2022-01-20 ·

According to an embodiment, a control device for an image forming apparatus includes a controller that acquires reference information corresponding to expected signal strength values from a wireless tag on a sheet moving along a conveyance path and also acquires measured signal strength values for a first wireless tag on a sheet from a wireless tag communication device. The controller calculates a similarity value from the measured signal strength values and the expected signal strength values to determine whether the first wireless tag is on a sheet moving along the conveyance path. The controller controls the wireless tag communication device to write information to the first wireless tag when the calculated similarity value is above a threshold similarity value.

Industrial Printer

A high speed tabletop and industrial printer is disclosed with integrated high speed RFID encoding and verification at the same time. The industrial printer simultaneously prints on and electronically encodes/verifies RFID labels, tags, and/or stickers attached to a continuous web. The industrial printer comprises a lighted sensor array for indexing the printing to the RFID tags; and a cutter powered from the industrial printer for cutting the web that the RFID tags are disposed on. The industrial printer comprises two RFID reader/writers that are individually controlled. Specifically, one of the RFID reader/writers comprises the ability to electronically encode the RFID tags while the web is moving; and the second RFID reader/writer uses an additional RFID module and antenna on the printer for verifying the data encoded to the RFID tags.

RFID TAG COMMUNICATION DEVICE
