The method further includes obtaining, by the marketplace server, dynamic external factors for the request to acquire the exchange item and determining variable contract function information based on the external factors in accordance with a smart contract approach. The method further includes sending an acquisition response to the computing device that includes the variable contract function information and the exchange item information. The method further includes obtaining, by the computing device, current dynamic external factors associated with the variable contract function information and generating, by the computing device, updated exchange item information for the exchange item based on the current dynamic external factors and the variable contract function information.

A method for preventing transmission of malicious data may include receiving transaction data including at least one packet associated with a payment transaction; extracting at least one of network layer data or transport layer data from a header of the at least one packet; determining a first probability indicating that the at least one packet is in a first class based on the at least one of the network layer data or the transport layer data using a classifier. The method may also include determining a second probability indicating that the at least one packet is in a second class based on the at least one of the network layer data or the transport layer data using the classifier; and blocking the at least one packet. A method, apparatus and computer program product are provided for providing a patient with prescribed medication cost information at a point of prescribing. A prescription benefit coverage inquiry is received and provided to a claims processor for processing. Historical data associated with prior prescription transactions is utilized to determine an estimated cost range of a prescribed medication in the event of an insufficient or absent response from a benefits manager. The estimated cost range is then provided to a prescriber to share with a patient. A targeted out-of-pocket cost according to incentives, such as vouchers and drug manufacturer rebates may also be provided.
