In one embodiment, a video analysis service receives video data captured by one or more cameras at a particular location. The service applies a neural network-based model to portions of the video data, to identify objects within the video data. The service maps outputs of the neural network-based model to symbols using a conceptual space. The outputs of the model comprise the identified objects. The service applies a symbolic reasoning engine to the symbols, to generate an alert. The service sends the alert to a user interface in conjunction with the video data.

Methods and systems for securely transferring and merging an electronic shopping cart curated by an affiliate online service for purchase on a retailer online service is disclosed. The retailer online service provides an anonymous token to the affiliate online service that allows the affiliate online service to curate an anonymous electronic shopping cart for a user that does not include any identifying information that links the user to a guest account of the retailer online service. When the user is redirected from the affiliate online service to the retailer online service, the anonymous token is validated. Upon validation of the anonymous token, the retailer online service obtains identifying information linking the user to the guest account of the retailer online service and obtain a pre-existing electronic shopping cart linked to the guest account. The retailer online service then merges the anonymous electronic shopping cart with the pre-existing electronic shopping cart.

Contents of the virtual purchase cart are visible while the video is being viewed. A representation of the virtual purchase cart is displayed, wherein the representation is visible while viewing the short-form video. The virtual purchase cart is checked out. Contents of the virtual purchase cart are purchased. Purchase of the product is finalized upon conclusion of the short-form video. Finalizing purchase is accomplished using a batch order process. Batch order processing occurs upon conclusion of the short-form video.

A method and system for food-order processing based on timing of media-content presentation. An example method includes a media presentation system detecting an occurrence of a media-presentation event associated with presentation of a media-content item by the media presentation system. Further, the example method includes, responsive to detecting the media-presentation event, (i) the media presentation system presenting a food-ordering prompt that solicits user input to place a food order, (ii) the media presentation system receiving the user input responsive to the presented prompt, and (iii) responsive to the received user input, the media presentation system engaging in network communication to place the food order pursuant to the received user input.
