20170372451 · 2017-12-28 ·

An image deformation method and an image deformation device are provided. The method includes: acquiring an original image, and acquiring a target shape; deforming the original image into a target image based on a ratio of deformation at a center of the original image to deformation at an edge of the original image, wherein the further the edge of the target image is away from the center of the target image, the greater a deforming degree of the edge of the target image is, and a shape of the target image is the target shape; and displaying the target image.

Systems and methods for real-time monitoring of micromilling tool wear

The wear status of a micro-endmill tool may be inferred by monitoring the chip production rate of the tool in operation. Chips may be extracted from a work area, captured on an adhesive surface, imaged, and counted to determine the chip production rate. When the rate of chip production falls, the feed rate of the micro-endmill may be increased to a level suitable for the current state of tool wear. In this manner, costly and inconvenient work stoppages to evaluate the wear status of a tool are eliminated.

Apparatus and Method for Generating an Extrapolated Image Using a Recursive Hierarchical Process A method and apparatus for generating an extrapolated image from an existing film or video content, which can be displayed beyond the borders of the existing film or video content to increase viewer immersiveness, are provided. The present principles provide for hierarchical processing in which higher resolution images are generated at each higher level, and wherein the higher level image is generated based on prediction and weighting derived from a current level image, and the current level is refined for the prediction based on overlapping data.

Adaptive Decimation Using 3D Video Features
20170358133 · 2017-12-14 ·

Systems, devices, and methods are described herein for geometrically simplifying three-dimensional (3D) video data. In one aspect, a method may include obtaining 3D data, with the 3D data including a plurality of portions associated with a default resolution priority. A higher resolution priority may be associated with one or more portions of the 3D data. Next, portions of the 3D data may be sorted according to resolution priorities associated with each portion, and geometric simplification may be performed on the sorted portions of the 3D data, beginning with portions associated with a least resolution priority and continuing with portions associated with successively higher resolution priorities. The simplified 3D data may be processed, for example, for rendering on a computing device or transmission to another device for display or generation, such as a 3D printing device for generating a 3D object.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a picture processing method and apparatus. The method includes: obtaining, from a first device, a figure image of a first subject and a first focal length corresponding to the figure image; obtaining a figure image that is of a second subject and determined according to the first focal length; and compositing the figure image of the second subject, the figure image of the first subject, and a selected background image. By using the embodiments of the present invention, users in different places can easily and conveniently take a group photo.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR PERFORMING CONVOLUTIONAL IMAGE TRANSFORMATION ESTIMATION

A method for generating inputs for a neural network based on an image includes receiving the image, identifying a position within the image, and identifying a subset of the image at the position. The subset of the image is defined by a first set of corners. The method also includes perturbing at least one of the first set of corners to form a second set of corners. The second set of corners defines a modified subset of the image. The method further includes determining a homography based on a comparison between the subset of the image and the modified subset of the image, generating a transformed image by applying the homography to the image, and identifying a subset of the transformed image at the position.

Automatic image cropping based on ensembles of regions of interest

A crop generation system determines multiple types of saliency data and multiple crop candidates for an image. Multiple region of interest (“ROI”) ensembles are generated, indicating locations of the salient content of the image. For each crop candidate, the crop generation system calculates an evaluation score. A set of crop candidates is selected based on the evaluation scores.

Apparatus and method for non-uniform frame buffer rasterization

An apparatus and method are described for a non-uniform rasterizer. For example, one embodiment of an apparatus comprises: a graphics processor to process graphics data and render images using the graphics data; and a non-uniform rasterizer within the graphics processor to determine different resolutions to be used for different regions of an image, the non-uniform rasterizer to receive a plurality of polygons to be rasterized and to responsively rasterize the polygons in accordance with the different resolutions.
