Method and apparatus for generating a super-resolved image from a single image

Known methods for generating super-resolved images from single input images have various disadvantages. An improved method for generating a super-resolved image from a single low-resolution input image comprises up-scaling the input image to generate an initial version of the super-resolved image, searching, for each patch of the low-resolution input image, similar low-resolution patches in first search windows within down-sampled versions of the input image, and determining, in less down-sampled versions of the input image, high-resolution patches that correspond to the similar low-resolution patches. The determined high-resolution patches are cropped, a second search window is determined in the initial version of the super-resolved image, and a best-matching position for each cropped high-resolution patch is searched within the second search window. Finally, each cropped high-resolution patch is added to the super-resolved image at its respective best-matching position.

The present invention provides a full-screen display method for an upright image that includes the following steps: reading the resolution of the second image, the resolution of the second image is a:b; extracting from the said second image to generate the third image, the resolution of the third image is b:a; the center line of the second image and of the third image coincide in both the horizontal and vertical directions; the number of pixels of the second image in the vertical direction is the same as that of the third image in the vertical direction; rotating the third image by 90 degrees along the set direction generates the fourth image; and finally displaying the fourth image full-screen on the said display device. The present invention also provides the mirroring same-screen device, the display device, the full-screen display system for upright images, and the computer readable storage medium to perform the previous steps of the full-screen display method for upright images. Compared with related technologies, the technical scheme of the present invention can realize the full-screen display of an upright image with excellent user experience.

Embodiments provide techniques for rendering augmented reality effects on an image of a user's face in real time. The method generally includes receiving an image of a face of a user. A global facial depth map and a luminance map are generated based on the captured image. The captured image is segmented into a plurality of segments. For each segment in the plurality of segments, a displacement energy of the respective segment is minimized using a least square minimization of a linear system for the respective segment. The displacement energy is generally defined by a relationship between a detailed depth map, the global facial depth map and the luminance map. The detailed depth map is generated based on the minimized displacement energy for each segment in the plurality of segments. One or more visual effects are rendered over the captured image using the generated detailed depth map.
