SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR COMPENSATION OF REFLECTION ON A DISPLAY DEVICE
20200258474 · 2020-08-13 · ·

A system and method for compensating for reflections caused by light-generating objects in the scene facing a display device includes capturing images of the scene. Reflection-inducting zones corresponding to the light generating objects are identified from the captured images. The reflection effect on the display device from the reflection-inducing zones are estimated. A target image to be displayed on the display device is adjusted based on the estimated reflection effect.

QUANTIZATION PARAMETER CONTROL FOR VIDEO CODING WITH JOINED PIXEL/TRANSFORM BASED QUANTIZATION

A device for processing high dynamic range and/or wide color gamut (HDR/WCG) video data can be configured to determine a quantization parameter for quantized transform coefficients of a block of the HDR/WCG video data; inverse quantize the quantized transform coefficients based on the determined quantization parameter to determine dequantized transform coefficients; based on the dequantized transform coefficients, determine a block of residual values for the block of the HDR/WCG video data; based on the block of residual values, determine a reconstructed block for the block of the HDR/WCG video data; determine one or more dynamic range adjustment (DRA) parameters for the block of the HDR/WCG video data; adjust the one or more DRA parameters based on the determined quantization parameter to determine one or more adjusted DRA parameters; and perform DRA on the reconstructed block of the HDR/WCG video data using the one or more adjusted DRA parameters.

Methods, systems, and devices relating to shadow detection for real-time object identification

The automated treatment of agricultural fields allows precise application of treatment to only areas of the field requiring treatment, allowing reduced use of agricultural products such as pesticides and the related reduction in environmental stress. Such automated treatment requires the monitoring of image information of the field to detect objects of interest such as weeds. Such monitoring of image information of the field suffers from the real world problem of shadows cast from the agricultural equipment and/or adjacent trees or structures that cast shadows across the field. Shadows are extracted from the image data by smoothing the data, and developing a shadow mask by employing an intensity histogram and identifying a local minima in the darker intensities of the histogram to identify a shadow threshold. The image areas within the shadow area detected by said mask are then corrected by multiplication with correction coefficients to extract the shadow.

Optical array for high-quality imaging in harsh environments

Methods and apparatus are disclosed for producing high quality images in uncontrolled or impaired environments. In some examples of the disclosed technology, groups of cameras for high dynamic range (HDR), polarization diversity, and optional other diversity modes are arranged to concurrently image a common scene. For example, in a vehicle checkpoint application, HDR provides discernment of dark objects inside a vehicle, while polarization diversity aids in rejecting glare. Spectral diversity, infrared imaging, and active illumination can be applied for better imaging through a windshield. Preprocessed single-camera images are registered and fused. Faces or other features of interest can be detected in the fused image and identified in a library. Impairments can include weather, insufficient or interfering lighting, shadows, reflections, window glass, occlusions, or moving objects.

Techniques for providing virtual light adjustments to image data
10740959 · 2020-08-11 · ·

Embodiments of the present disclosure can provide systems, methods, and computer-readable medium for providing virtual lighting adjustments to image data. A user interface for presenting and/or modifying image data may be provided via an electronic device. User input may be received that indicates a selection of a virtual lighting mode. Landmark points corresponding to a set of pixels of the image data may be identified based, at least in part, on depth measurement values of the set of pixels. One or more masks may be generated from the landmark points. One or more virtual lighting adjustments associated with the selected virtual lighting mode may be made to the image data using these masks (or the landmark points and an implied geometry of the landmark points). The adjusted/modified image may be presented to the user via the user interface at the electronic device.
