METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION

A computer-implemented method of image reconstruction can comprise acquiring projection data of a region of a patient. The projection data comprising one or more projections representing measured ray intensities of attenuated rays of radiation emitted from a radiation source, passed through the patient, and detected at a detector. The detector and the radiation source are rotated about an isocentre. The method can further comprise performing opposing projection data correction to obtain modified projection data. The opposing projection data correction comprising modification of the measured ray intensities for projection data acquired at substantially 180 degrees offsets about the isocentre. The method can further comprise running an image reconstruction process on the modified projection data to obtain an image of the region of the patient.

Estimating scatter in X-ray images caused by imaging system components using spatially-dependent kernels

A computer-implemented method of reducing scatter in an X-ray projection image of an object comprises: generating an initial X-ray projection image with an imaging beam and an X-ray detector; based on a first position in a detector array of the X-ray detector, selecting a first kernel for convolution of a first portion of the initial projection image, wherein the first position corresponds to the first portion of the initial projection image; based on a second position in the detector array of the X-ray detector, selecting a second kernel for convolution of a second portion of the initial projection image, wherein the second position corresponds to the second portion of the initial projection image; convolving the first portion with the first kernel and the second portion with the second kernel to generate a scatter component of the initial X-ray projection image; and generating a corrected X-ray projection image by removing the scatter component from the initial X-ray projection image.

APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IN VIVO BREAST TISSUE IMAGING USING CODED APERTURE XRAY SCATTER TOMOGRAPHY

A system and method for acquiring in vivo tomographic X-ray scatter data for tissue discrimination of breast tissue. The system includes a coded aperture for spatially encoding X-ray scatter originating from within a patient's breast. Detectors record the modulated scatter signal, which is used to reconstruct a spatially resolved estimate of the X-ray scatter spectra which can then be used to generate spatially resolved tissue type estimates for the user.

Systems and methods for image reconstruction in positron emission tomography

A system for PET image reconstruction is provided. The system may obtain PET data of a subject. The PET data may be associated with a plurality of coincidence events, which includes scattering events. The system may also generate a preliminary scatter sinogram relating to the scattering events based on the PET data. The system may also generate a target scatter sinogram relating to the scattering events by applying a scatter sinogram generator based on the preliminary scatter sinogram. The target scatter sinogram may have a higher image quality than the preliminary scatter sinogram. The system may further reconstruct a target PET image of the subject based on the PET data and the target scatter sinogram.
