Methods, devices and systems for controlling a fingerprint sensor system are disclosed. Some examples involve receiving a contact indication corresponding to a contact of an object with a surface of an apparatus and determining, responsive to the contact indication, multiple force values corresponding to contact of the object with the surface during a force monitoring time interval. Some examples involve determining whether at least a plurality of the multiple force values exceeds a force threshold and controlling a fingerprint sensor system based, at least in part, on whether at least the plurality of the multiple force values exceeds the force threshold.

Some disclosed methods may involve receiving an indication of a digit touching a surface of an apparatus in an active fingerprint sensor area, obtaining current fingerprint image data from the digit and performing a first authentication process based, at least in part, on the current fingerprint image data. Responsive to determining that the first authentication process is an unsuccessful authentication process, some methods may involve obtaining non-digit image data after the digit has been removed from the surface, performing a second authentication process based, at least in part, on the non-digit image data and providing a notification regarding the outcome of the second authentication process. In some examples, the non-digit image data may be obtained and the second authentication process may be performed without providing a notification regarding the unsuccessful outcome of the first authentication process.

A fingerprint processing device includes a match processing unit configured to determine, based on a first degree, a plurality of feature points having a large value of the first degree among the feature points of a fingerprint specified in a fingerprint image of a matching source, the first degree representing a first distance to other feature points, as representative feature points used in match processing of the fingerprint.

An apparatus, method and system are provided for sensing an individual's biometric information, and generating and transmitting an acoustic signal representative of the sensed biometric information. The acoustic signal may be transmitted as an audio signal or an ultrasonic signal to another apparatus in the system for authentication or verification of the individual's identity.

A method is applied to a process in which a user presses the power button to start up the device. The method includes obtaining fingerprint information acquired by the fingerprint sensor, and saving the fingerprint information. The method further includes providing the fingerprint information to perform fingerprint authentication to log in to an operating system of the device.

An imaging device includes: an imaging portion that captures an image of a portion of a living body to take in the image; a display portion that displays first and second display images with being superimposed on each other, the first display image being based on the taken-in image, the second display image including guidance regarding a way to place the portion of the living body in a prescribed position; a determination portion that determines whether the portion of the living body is placed in the prescribed position; and a control portion that, until it is determined that the portion of the living body is placed in the prescribed position, causes the imaging portion to newly capture and take in a new image of the portion of the living body and causes the display portion to display an image based on the new taken-in image.

An authentication method including: determining whether biometric information with a degree of similarity to first biometric information that satisfies a criterion is included in a plurality of pieces of biometric information extracted from a first biometric information group; and controlling, when the biometric information is determined not to be included, whether to execute first determination that determines whether biometric information with the degree of similarity to biometric information newly detected by the first sensor that satisfies the criterion is included in the plurality of pieces of biometric information extracted from the first biometric information group on a basis of a degree of divergence of the degree of similarity from the criterion, or to execute second determination that extracts a plurality of pieces of biometric information from a second biometric information group.

An authentication method executed by a computer, the authentication method including: extracting, when a captured image of a living body is acquired, a biometric image included in a region that corresponds to the living body from the captured image; and performing authentication of the living body on the basis of the extracted biometric image and a position of the biometric image in the captured image.
