Surface material enhancement with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags

In certain embodiments of surface material enhancement with radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, one or more RFID pressure assemblies are incorporated into a surface material. An RFID pressure assembly includes a pressure switch and an RFID tag. The RFID tag can be in an inactive state or in an active state. The RFID tag is generally in the inactive state, but the RFID tag is placed in the active state if a person applies pressure to the pressure switch. If the RFID tag is in the inactive state, the RFID tag fails to respond to an interrogation signal transmitted from an RFID reader. If the RFID tag is in the active state, the RFID tag responds to an interrogation signal by reflecting back a responsive signal. The responsive signal sent from the RFID tag may include a positional indicator of the RFID pressure assembly or an appliance control command.

A system and methods are provided for authenticating handwriting of a user, including a pen that includes a motion sensor, a biometric sensor, a communications interface, a real-time clock and a processor with associated memory to perform: receiving a biometric signal of a user from the biometric unit; generating a user authentication indicator, wherein a match between the biometric signal and stored biometric information is a factor of the user authentication indicator; receiving a motion signal indicative of a user signature from the motion sensor and responsively determining a handwriting pattern instance; storing in the memory a signature record including the user authentication indicator, the handwriting pattern instance, and a time and date; and communicating the signature record by the communications interface to an external application.

Embodiments of the invention are generally directed to systems, methods, devices, and machine-readable mediums for implementing gesture-based signature authentication. In one embodiment, a method may involve recording a first gesture-based signature and storing the recorded first gesture-based signature. Then the method compares the first gesture-based signature with a second gesture-based signature. Then the method verifies the first gesture-based signature as authentic when the first gesture-based signature is substantially similar to the second gesture-based signature.

USER AUTHENTICATION METHOD AND APPARATUS

A user authentication apparatus includes: a motion sensor configured to receive motion data associated with a motion of a body of the user authentication apparatus; a biometric sensor configured to receive biometric data associated with a user of the user authentication apparatus; and a processor configured to identify a signature of the user based on the motion data, and authenticate the user based on the identified signature and the biometric data.

KINEMATIC AND MORPOMETRIC ANALYSIS OF DIGITIZED HANDWRITING TRACINGS

The present invention is directed to a computer application for analyzing handwriting. The handwriting is digitized by being captured by a computing device such as a tablet. The application analyzes four components of the digitized handwriting. The initial component provides real-time writing speed feedback to the subject. The second fully automated component computes a variety of kinematic measures based on periods of time when the subject is writing versus the pen being off the tablet. A third component is able to concatenate pen strokes into user defined characters and assesses character and/or word spacing based on preset distances. For the fourth component, a 2-dimensional version of the large deformation diffeomorphic metric mapping (LDDMM) method is used to compare each character to a template character. Together, these components can be used to assess handwriting for a broad range of applications.
