In one embodiment, a sensor system includes an active thermal sensor pixel matrix, a plurality of presence sensors, and an image acquisition controller. The pixel matrix includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a plurality of rows and a plurality of columns and a boundary defining a perimeter. The plurality of presence sensors is disposed at least partially within the boundary of the pixel matrix. The image acquisition controller is coupled to the pixel matrix and the plurality of presence sensors. The image acquisition controller is configured to: (i) receive signals from the presence sensors; (ii) identify, based on the signals, a scan region, wherein the scan region is a portion of the pixel matrix that is in contact with or adjacent to a specimen; and (iii) obtain image data only from pixels that are within the scan region for generating an image of the specimen.

A security chip, a biometric recognition method and a biometric template registration method are disclosed herein. The security chip comprises: a sensor configured to sensor information of a biometric feature; a memory configured to store a template of the biometric feature; a processor configured to obtain the information of the biometric feature from the sensor, perform image preprocessing and feature extraction on the obtained information of the biometric feature, compare features with the template of the biometric feature stored in the memory to determine a biometric recognition result, wherein the template of the biometric feature is generated by the processor by obtaining the information of the biometric feature from the sensor and performing image preprocessing and feature extraction on the obtained information of the biometric feature, and the sensor, the memory and the processor are integrated in the security chip. The sensing, storage and processing of the information relative to the biometric feature are all performed in the security chip, and physically isolated from the system environment, so that, the security is greatly improved compared to traditional logical isolation.

The authentication system includes an authentication device, and the user is authenticated by combining the authentication device with a user's mobile terminal. In the mobile terminal, an authentication code in which facial feature points extracted from user's facial images are recorded is stored in the memory. In the authentication device, facial feature points are extracted from images of a human's face captured by an imaging unit, after being determined to be in a facial recognizable state, and the authentication code is displayed on the screen of the mobile terminal. The e facial feature points recorded in the authentication code are read from the captured images of the authentication code. The extracted facial feature points and the read facial feature points are subject to matching with each other in order to authenticate the user.

The method may include, if the identification card image is not oriented relative to the accepted orientation, using the web server, iteratively rotating the identification card image in one or more increments and assessing if the identification card image is oriented at the accepted orientation until the identification card image is oriented at the accepted orientation.

An IC module of an embodiment includes a storage unit, a communications unit, and a processing unit. The storage unit stores reference data. The communications unit receives check data. The processing unit detects a degree of similarity between the reference data and the check data. Furthermore, when the degree of similarity is equal to or larger than a first threshold value, the processing unit determines a verification success, and when the degree of similarity is smaller than the first threshold value, the processing unit determines a verification failure, and updates a verification failure history in a weighted manner according to the degree of similarity.
