An adapter (1) for use in the preparation of a beverage by a capsule (2) and a beverage preparation device. The adapter (1) can be placed together with the capsule (2) in the beverage preparation device. The adapter (1) has a capsule face (4), on which mechanism (5) for introducing a liquid into the capsule (2) and mechanism (6) for discharging a liquid from the capsule (2) are located. In addition, the adapter (1) has a device face (7), on which an inlet (8) for a liquid provided by the beverage preparation device and an outlet (9) are located. The inlet (8) is fluidically connected to the mechanism (5) for introducing a liquid into the capsule (2) and the outlet (9) is fluidically connected to the mechanism (6) for discharging a liquid from the capsule (2).

A capsule system for expanding the range of application of extraction capsules. The capsule system includes a holding capsule, in which the extraction capsule is held. An annular trough remains between the jacket wall of the extraction capsule and the jacket wall of the holding capsule. The capsule system makes it possible to guide a good in the annular trough with a mixing medium around the extraction capsule and through through-flow openings, while an extraction medium is guided through the extraction capsule. Both media are mixed in a mixing chamber and exit through an outlet opening.

A system for the preparation of a multi-component food product, such as coffee, tea, soup or baby food. A set (47), for use in the preparation of a beverage by a beverage preparation device, comprising a capsule (2) and an adapter (1). The adapter (1) and the capsule (2) are interconnected in a stand-by position such that the adapter (1) and the capsule (2) can be transferred, from the stand-by position, into an operating position in which the inlet (8) of the adapter (1) is in fluid connection with the substance chamber (49) of the capsule (2).

A system for preparing a brewed beverage from at least one flavorant includes a housing, a receptacle connectable to the housing for holding the at least one flavorant and a reservoir connectable to the housing. The receptacle including a first fluid inlet and a second fluid inlet and a first fluid flow path fluidly connects the reservoir to the first fluid inlet and a second fluid flow path fluidly connects the reservoir to the second fluid inlet.

A brewing material container for a beverage brewer includes a receptacle and a lid. The receptacle is configured to receive and hold beverage brewing material and to be placed in a brewing chamber of the beverage brewer, and includes a base, and a sidewall extending from the base and terminating in an open end. The lid is configured to engage with the open end of the sidewall to at least partially cover the open end. The lid includes a number of lid openings configured to receive a corresponding respective number of injection nozzles of the beverage brewer. The receptacle base and/or the receptacle sidewall includes a receptacle opening configured to allow fluid flow from an interior of the receptacle to an exterior of the receptacle.

The cartridge (1) according to the invention comprises an envelope (2) having a first and a second end wall (4, 5) connected together by an annular lateral wall (6) and defining an inner chamber (7) containing a quantity or dose of a substance (S) for preparation of the beverage. The envelope (2) has at least one first and at least one second permeable wall (6a, 5) acting as an inlet for the introduction of a flow of water into the chamber (7) and as an outlet from it respectively for outflow of the beverage from chamber (7). Between the first and the second permeable walls (6a, 5) the envelope (2) has an outwardly projecting annular formation (3g). Pad for use in coffee machine for preparing at least one part of a single beverage serving. In use, in the coffee machine an aqueous fluid such as water is supplied under pressure to the pad so that the fluid is forced through the pad for obtaining a beverage that then exits the pad. The pad includes a covering with an interior space that is filled with a beverage preparation product for preparing the beverage, which beverage preparation product is a product such as ground coffee extractable with a fluid, such as water. The covering is formed by an optionally disc-shaped first sheet and a rigid shell, wherein the first sheet and the shell around their adjacent perimeter edges are connected to each other. The shell is equipped with at least one outlet, wherein on the interior space of the pad in a bottom of shell a fluid collecting structure is provided, advantageously embodied as channels in fluid connected with the at least one outlet. The pad is equipped with a second sheet that is positioned on the bottom of the shell and covering the fluid collecting structure or the channels. The second sheet is located between the beverage preparation product and the shell, wherein the first sheet and the second sheet each form a filter permeable to a fluid such as water and beverage, which can pass and that forms a barrier for the beverage preparation product so that, when in use, a fluid fed under pressure at the first sheet of the pad flows through the first sheet to the beverage preparation product so that the beverage is formed which then flows through the second sheet and via the fluid collecting structure, such as the channels, and leaves the pad through the at least one outlet opening.

Pad including a covering filled with a soluble beverage preparation product. The covering comprises a flexible first sheet and a rigid shell which are connected to each other. The shell has at least one outlet opening. The pad is further equipped with a flexible second sheet that is positioned on a bottom of the shell located between the product and the shell. The first sheet and the second sheet each form a filter that allows an aqueous fluid, including water, and the beverage to pass and that forms a barrier for the product. The at least one outlet opening preferably has a diameter of a sufficient size for passing beverage substantially unrestricted.
