A drip coffee bag holder has a body. The body includes a first side wall, a second side wall, a first end wall, and a second end wall. The first and second side walls are joined by the first and second end walls. The first and second side walls and the first and second end walls enclose a space with the first and second side walls being opposite to each other and with the first and second end walls being opposite to each other. The first and second side walls each have a bottom including a mounting portion configured to mount on a brim of a cup. The space is configured to receive a drip coffee bag.

An espresso coffee machine is described, said machine comprising: a water supply; a boiler for heating the water; a pump; a dispensing group configured to cooperate with a portafilter equipped with a filter basket with a puck of coffee powder, the machine being configured to supply pressurized water to said coffee powder puck for dispensing an espresso coffee, and a water monitoring system for monitoring at least one parameter of the water used for preparation of the espresso coffee. Preferably, the monitoring system comprises a conductivity and temperature probe which provides values, continuously and in real time, of water hardness derived from information on the electrical conductivity and temperature of the water.

A beverage brewing cartridge includes a base including a sidewall having first and second open ends and a cover sealed to a rim of the first open end, and a plug configured to be inserted into the second open end. The cartridge is configured to hold beverage brewing material when the plug is inserted. The cover is configured to be breached to allow pressurized liquid to enter the cartridge to brew a beverage. The plug includes weakened areas configured to open after the pressurized liquid enters the cartridge to allow the beverage to flow from the cartridge. A method of constructing the cartridge includes placing the base in a holder, inserting a portion of brewing material into the base through the second open sidewall end, tamping the brewing material in the base through the second open sidewall end, and inserting the plug into the second open sidewall end.

A beverage brewing device is configured for use with a beverage brewer having an inlet probe for dispensing water and an outlet probe positioned in a holster defining ridges along a sidewall thereof. The beverage brewing device includes a sidewall defining grooves sized and positioned to receive the ridges, the sidewall being conical in shape. A bottom wall extends across a bottom of the sidewall and one or both of the bottom wall and the sidewall define openings covered with filter material. Outlet probe receptacles positioned to receive the outlet probe extend upwardly from the bottom wall.

The top of the espresso cartridge may be sealed by a foil lid or the like, or be open and an adhesive attachable lid may be included for attachment by a user. A first method utilizes a hand held multi-function tool including a cartridge holder with a holder lid to capture the espresso cartridge, and a bottom tamper and plug seating arm. A second method utilizes a stationary base residing on a flat surface, a cartridge holder to retain cartridges on the base, and individual tools to fill and tamp brewing material in the cartridge, and to attach the bottom plug to the cartridge.

A re-usable container for a substance for the preparation of a liquid beverage, particularly configured for use as a capsule for a beverage dispensing machine, includes a first end portion, a second end portion, and a shell between the first end portion and second end portion and delimiting therewith an internal volume of the container configured for housing a substance for the preparation of a liquid beverage. The first end portion includes one or more first apertures configured for allowing the inlet of a liquid into the internal volume. The second end portion includes a plurality of second apertures configured for allowing the outlet of a beverage that can be obtained by interaction of the liquid with a substance for the preparation of a liquid beverage within said internal volume. The second end portion is dismountable and includes an annular element configured for coupling with the shell and an insert that can be removably coupled into the annular element and having the second apertures.

A reusable cartridge and method for forming a beverage using a beverage machine. The cartridge may include multiple openings, e.g., arranged to receive an inlet needle, through which liquid may be introduced into the cartridge. One or more of the openings may be closed to flow, e.g., by a plug that engages with a corresponding opening by a friction fit. A filter basket may be inserted or removed into the interior space through the opening and a cover may engage at top to seal the opening closed.

A brewing material container for a beverage brewer includes a receptacle and a lid. The receptacle is configured to receive and hold beverage brewing material and to be placed in a brewing chamber of the beverage brewer, and includes a base, and a sidewall extending from the base and terminating in an open end. The lid is configured to engage with the open end of the sidewall to at least partially cover the open end. The lid includes a number of lid openings configured to receive a corresponding respective number of injection nozzles of the beverage brewer. The receptacle base and/or the receptacle sidewall includes a receptacle opening configured to allow fluid flow from an interior of the receptacle to an exterior of the receptacle.
