METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONEY ITEM PROCESSING
Described herein is a method comprising performing optical character recognition on at least one region of a display screen to determine at least one displayed character; identifying, from the determined at least one displayed character, a monetary value to be dispensed; and in response to identifying the monetary value to be dispensed, causing to be dispensed at least one money item corresponding to the identified monetary value. Further described is a method comprising determining, using at least one money item denominating apparatus, a monetary value of at least one received money item; in response to determining the monetary value, automatically providing at least one simulated user input to the interactive user interface indicative of the determined monetary value.

COIN STORAGE METHOD AND COIN STORAGE APPARATUS
Provided is a coin storage method that is executed by a processor of a coin storage apparatus. The coin storage method includes: feeding out a coin from a first storage unit that stores a coin; recognizing a denomination of the coin that has been fed out; executing, based on a number of coins, which have been already stored in a second storage unit that stores a coin to be withdrawn outside, for each denomination and the denomination of the coin having been recognized, a replenishment operation in which the coin is selectively stored in a second storage unit; and changing, depending on the denomination of the coin having been fed out from the first storage unit, a denomination/number-of-coins combination of one or a plurality of coins to be stored in the second storage unit in the replenishment operation.

CASH HANDLING SYSTEM AND CASH HANDLING METHOD
In order to improve efficiency of an operation of a cash handling system and reduce the labor required for the operation, a POS register receives an input of a cash-out amount, and an input of a charge amount. The POS register reads a debit card ID from a debit card, and transmits a settlement request including the debit card ID and a settlement amount to a management server. Upon receiving the settlement request, the management server withdraws the settlement amount from an account, and transmits a settlement permission to the POS register. Upon receiving the settlement permission from the management server, the POS register performs charge of electronic money, and transmits a dispensing instruction for the cash-out amount to a change machine. The change machine receives the dispensing instruction and dispenses cash.
Money depositing apparatus and checkout system
A speedy and efficient checkout process at a checkout counter in a store is realized by a deposit machine that receives deposited money from a customer and issues a pre-deposit receipt with which a pre-deposit amount is associated, and a POS register that scans a barcode of a commodity to calculate a checkout amount and reads a pre-deposit receipt to specify a pre-deposit amount. The POS register performs a checkout process for the checkout amount by using the pre-deposit amount, calculates, as change, a difference between the pre-deposit amount and the checkout amount, and causes a change machine to dispense money corresponding to the change.

ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT
In an electronic equipment including a coin handling apparatus, a protective cover having a plate-like shape for preventing infiltration of extraneous matters other than coins is attached to a coin insertion slot for inserting coins, and the protective over includes a cutout part having a size that allows a predetermined number of plurality of coins to simultaneously pass therethrough and a cutout part periphery section adjacent to the cutout part of the protective cover or a surface of the protective cover is formed to have a shape adapted to drain liquid falling on the protective cover.
DEPOSIT AND WITHDRAWAL APPARATUS AND COIN DISTRIBUTION METHOD
A deposit and withdrawal apparatus that includes a deposit port through which a coin is deposited, a withdrawal port through which the coin is withdrawn, and a first unit that is capable of storing the coin includes a second unit, a judgement unit, and a distribution unit. The second unit is different from the first unit and is capable of storing the coin. The judgement unit judges the coin deposited from the deposit port. The distribution unit distributes the deposited coin to the first unit or the second unit on the basis of a judgement result obtained by the judgement unit. The distribution unit is able to distribute the coin deposited into the first unit or the second unit.
