Method for Detecting the Physical Characteristics of a Physical Credential in 3D Space for ID Authenticity

Aspects described herein may provide detection of a physical characteristic of a credential, thereby allowing for authentication of the credential. According to some aspects, these and other benefits may be achieved by detecting the physical characteristic with the credential in two or more orientations. A first image of a credential in a first orientation and a second image of the credential in a second orientation may be received. An optical characteristic of a secure feature of the credential may be determined based on light reflected from the secure feature in both the first image and the second image. An expected optical characteristic of the secure feature may be determined based on known properties of the secure feature. A determination as to whether the credential is authentic may be based how a comparison of the determined optical characteristic of the secure feature to the expected optical characteristic of the secure feature.

The present disclosure relates to signal processing such as image processing, signal encoding, digital watermarking and data hiding. Technology includes a method comprising: capturing imagery corresponding to a printed object with a red illumination scanner, the red illumination scanner having a wavelength at or around 660 nm, said scanning yielding scan data, wherein the printed object includes a process color printed thereon through an offset or flexo printing press, the process color including a narrow-band absorption material that has a peak absorbance at or around 660 nm, the process color printed in a manner to convey an encoded plural-bit message, the encoded plural-bit message corresponding to a GTIN number; analyzing the imagery with one or more programmed multi-core processors to decode the encoded plural bit message, said analyzing yielding the GTIN number; and providing the GTIN number as an output. Of course other combinations and technology is also provided.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR AUTOMATICALLY VERIFYING THE AUTHENTICITY OF DOCUMENTS
20200406664 · 2020-12-31 ·

A method and system for automatically verifying the authenticity of documents is provided. The method has: scanning a document to be verified in the visible and ultraviolet light spectrum; detecting in the scanned document digital watermarks printed with visible and ultraviolet ink; decrypting the marks, thereby obtaining an ultraviolet mark identifier and a variable data mark identifier; validating the percentage of the mark by checking for the presence of the digital watermark in different areas of the scanned document; comparing the mark identifiers obtained with mark identifiers stored in a database; and determining the validity of the document on the basis of the comparison. The invention allows the validity of the data printed in the document to be checked automatically, reducing the possibility of the undetected falsification, modification or total or partial alteration of a document.

A computer-implemented document verification method comprises: obtaining an image of a to-be-verified document; and verifying whether an anti-counterfeiting identifier exists in the image; verifying a source of the image; and obtaining a verification result for the to-be-verified document based on the verification of the anti-counterfeiting identifier and the verification of the source of the image. A computer-implemented identity verification method comprises: obtaining an image of an identity document of a to-be-verified user; obtaining a first verification result for the identity document based on the image of the identity document; verifying authenticity of identity information in the image of the identify document to obtain a second verification result; and determining an identity verification result for the to-be-verified user based on the first verification result and the second verification result.

Digital watermarking and signal encoding with activable compositions

The present disclosure relates to signal processing such as digital watermarking and other encoded signals. One claim recites a method of offsetting color casting for a printed object associated with a retail product. The method includes: providing a first additive that absorbs light energy at or around a center wavelength of an illumination source; providing a second additive that absorbs in the ultra-violet spectrum, yet fluoresces at or around the center wavelength of the illumination source, wherein a combination of spectral responses of the first additive and the second additive offset color casting; printing the first additive, second additive and a color on the printed object, wherein the printing conveys an encoded plural bit signal. Of course, other claims and combinations are provided in the specification with reference to specific implementations and related examples.

DIGITAL WATERMARKING AND DATA HIDING WITH NARROW-BAND ABSORPTION MATERIALS

The present disclosure relates to signal processing such as image processing, signal encoding, digital watermarking and data hiding. A sparse or dense digital watermark signal can be conveyed with a narrow-band absorption material corresponding to a center wavelength of a Point of Sale (POS) barcode scanner. The POS barcode scanner typically captures 2D imagery. Since the narrow-band absorption material absorbs over a narrow-band it is relatively imperceptible to the Human Visual System (HVS) but can be seen by the POS scanner.
