Systems and methods for overmolding a card are provided. A chip fraud prevention system include a device including a chip and a substrate. The chip may be at least partially encompassed in a chip pocket, and the substrate may be at least partially encompassed by the overmold.

Cards and devices with multifunction magnetic emulators and methods for using same

A payment card (e.g., credit and/or debit card) is provided with a magnetic emulator operable of communicating information to a magnetic stripe reader. Information used in validating a financial transaction is encrypted based on time such that a validating server requires receipt of the appropriate encrypted information for a period of time to validate a transaction for that period of time. Such dynamic information may be communicated using such an emulator such that a card may be swiped through a magnetic stripe reader—yet communicate different information based on time. An emulator may receive information as well as communicate information to a variety of receivers (e.g., an RFID receiver).

Modular transaction card

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a device, system, methods and components related to a modular card. Example components of the modular card include a thin rectangular rear plate, a thin rectangular front plate overlying the rear plate, a first plurality of fasteners fixed to the thin rectangular front plate, a second plurality of fasteners fixed to the thin rectangular rear plate, the second plurality of fasteners being configured to be removably engaged with the first plurality of fasteners; a magnetic strip, and/or an integrated circuit. In operation a user may remove and/or replace various components to customize the modular card. Some customizations include altering the accounts to which the modular card relates. In some example, the modular card may include components which relate to different accounts.

A method of protecting transactions in a card processing system from fraud comprises issuing a payment card having a first PAN number, a second PAN number and at least one of a magnetic strip or a smart chip. The first PAN number is encoded in machine readable language on each of the at least one of the magnetic strip or the smart chip and not displayed in human readable form on the payment card. The second PAN number is displayed in human readable form on the payment card and is not encoded in machine readable language on either of the at least one of the magnetic strip or the smart chip. The first PAN number is valid in the card processing system only for card-must-be-present transactions and the second PAN number is valid in the card processing system only for card-not-present transactions.

An interactive core for use in making electronic cards has rear and front adhesive layers which surround a stiffening spacer which has an interior opening in which electronic components (e.g., a PCB, battery and display) are located along with thermosetting polymeric material. A battery contained within the interior opening can be activated from an off state to an on state via use of an initialization antenna which can also be configured to allow a CPU to be customized for personal use.

Using the NFC field from a phone to power card to phone bluetooth communications

A contactless card with power harvesting unit is described. The power harvesting unit is configured to harvest power from near field communication radio wave fields and supply power to a memory, processor, and communication circuit of the contactless card. In some embodiments, the contactless card may also include a capacitor for smoothing out power deliver or a rechargeable battery. The contactless card is configured to establish two-way communication with a secondary device and to store and execute applets. In some embodiments, the contactless card is a payment card which contains information associated with a primary profile and a secondary profile. The secondary profile may be activated using two-way communication if the primary profile is deactivated due to fraudulent activity.

Biometric smart card with power harvesting

A smartcard device which includes power harvesting. Power is stored. That stored power is used to obtain biometric information on the card. In an embodiment, a smartcard is used in a card reading device, e.g, an ATM machine or other payment device. In one embodiment, the ATM swallows the card completely. In another embodiment, the card can be partly inserted into the machine or read and powered wirelessly. The fingerprint reader is put on the smart card. The client inserts the smart card into a standard ATM. The ATM recognizes a smart card with fingerprint authentication, harvests power and returns the smart card to the user. The Client authenticates their fingerprint using a fingerprint reader powered by harvested power then re-inserts the smart card. If authenticated, the client is prompted to choose one of the menu options.

SYSTEM FOR ADDING IDENTIFICATION ELEMENT TO CARD

Aspects described herein may allow for prompting a user to access an on-line tool to create an identification element to be added to an exterior surface of a personal card. A server device may prompt the user to select a location for the identification element from a plurality of pre-selected locations on the personal card, each of the plurality of pre-selected locations being proximate edges of the personal card and outward of any of magnetic strips, chips, text, photos, and images on the personal card. The server device may modify an exterior surface of the personal card to include the identification element at the selected location, and deliver the personal card to the user.
