20190171920 · 2019-06-06 ·

The present invention relates to a device for transmitting data and, particularly, to a device for transmitting data by using a magnetic stripe method. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the magnetic stripe data transmission device comprises: a coil to which a current is supplied in a first direction and a second direction, which is opposite to the first direction; a core for inducing a magnetic field when the current is supplied to the coil; a power source for supplying the current to the coil; driving units for intermittently supplying, to the coil, in the first direction or the second direction, a burst pulse or pseudo-burst pulse current supplied from the power source; and a control unit for outputting, to the driving units, a control signal in order to perform control such that the current is supplied to the coil alternately in the first direction and the second direction, wherein the core can be made of a material having an aspect ratio value of at least 0.5, having a coercivity value of 1000-10,000 [A/m], and having pseudo-hard magnetic density of which the saturated magnetic flux density value is at least 1 [T].

TRANSACTION AUTHORIZATION USING BIOMETRIC IDENTITY VERIFICATION
20240202727 · 2024-06-20 ·

A system for card not present (CNP) transaction authorization includes a smart card having a biometric sensor, a processor, and memory, the processor and memory comprising logic, a host device configured to communicate with the smart card, the host device configured to provide temporary power to the smart card, the biometric sensor and logic configured to capture one or more current biometric features corresponding to a current user identity sample, compare the one or more current biometric features to a previously obtained biometric feature corresponding to a previously obtained user identity sample, and if the one or more current biometric features matches the previously obtained biometric feature, generate an authorization signal that identifies the current user identity sample as belonging to an authorized user, the authorization signal corresponding to a user initiated successful biometric user authentication, the logic configured to generate a temporary passcode for display on the host device, the temporary passcode being used to authorize at least one transaction, the temporary passcode being generated from a combination of the authorization signal, fixed information previously stored securely on the card, and a dynamically changing variable, the temporary passcode being capable of being shared between the host device and the smart card.

Pre-authenticated identification token

A pre-authenticated token system includes an identification token having a switch, a transmitter and receiver circuit, and a sensor; a docking station having control circuitry, a transmit/receive circuit and an antenna; a personal computer; and an authentication server computer. The personal computer transmits security information to the authentication server, receives authentication information, and transmits an authentication signal to the docking station. The docking station receives the authentication signal, enters an authentication mode, and transmits the authentication signal to the identification token. The sensor of the identification token detects removal of the identification token from the user's body, and the switch then responds by disabling the identification token to prevent transmission of identification data.

The invention relates to a security and/or value document having a security feature, to an ink for making the security feature, to a method for making such a security and/or value document, and to a method for verifying such a security and/or value document.

Biometric account card

An apparatus can include a display; memory that stores biometric information and account information for at least one account; a biometric sensor that senses biometric information; authentication circuitry that authenticates sensed biometric information at least in part via a comparison to stored biometric information; display circuitry that renders account information to the display responsive to authentication of sensed biometric information; selection circuitry that selects one of said at least one account associated with account information rendered to the display; and a field generator that generates an output session that outputs at least one magnetic field that represents account information for the selected one of said at least one account. Various other apparatuses, systems, methods, etc., are also disclosed.

Transaction card having features for easy removal from wallet

A transaction card includes a first full thickness portion and a second, reduced thickness portion. Each of the first and second portions includes a top surface and an opposing bottom surface spaced from the top surface by a thickness of the card. The first, full thickness portion includes an extent of the card that remains exposed when the card is inserted into a pocket of a card-carrying case, and a feature deviating from a flat region along at least one of the top surface and the opposing bottom surface of the card. The feature is configured for tactile engagement to facilitate removal of the card from the pocket.

PAYMENT APPLICATION INITIATED GENERATION OF PAYMENT INSTRUMENTS

In some examples, a system and method for generating a payment instrument are described. The method includes receiving a unique signature that a recipient intends to associate with the payment instrument; verifying that the received feature meets an acceptability criterion; generating a representation of the received signature, wherein the representation is in a form capable of being physically associated with the payment instrument, and wherein association is established by embedding or exposing the representation on the payment instrument; and causing physical generation of the payment instrument having associated therewith the representation of the signature.

PORTABLE E-WALLET AND UNIVERSAL CARD

Universal cards are used in place of all the other traditional cards which a person may want to carry. The universal card can include a short range communications transceiver to communicate with a mobile device. The mobile device can include a user interface and an e-wallet application so that the user can interface with the e-wallet application for programming the universal card via the short range communication link. Once programmed, the universal card emulates a function of a traditional card.

SENSOR-ENABLED ACTIVATION OF PAYMENT INSTRUMENTS

In some examples, a system and method for activating a payment instrument. The method includes leveraging an activation feature associated with a payment instrument. The representation, obtained by a sensor, of the activation feature is received by the payment processing system. The payment processing system compares the representation of the activation feature with stored activation features corresponding to a user associated with the payment instrument. If the representation matches a user-associated activation feature, the payment processing system activates the payment instrument, wherein activating further includes granting the recipient access to a predetermined amount of funds through the activated payment instrument.
