A smart parking space and parking lot management system and method is disclosed. The system includes a parking management server, an attendant system, a plurality of smart parking spots, and an application on a driver's mobile device. Users make reservations on their mobile devices that communicate with the server over the internet. The driver checks in to the attendant system using a QRcode when arriving at the parking lot. The smart spot device informs the system when the vehicle arrives and leaves and may determine if a vehicle is in a proper spot with a reservation. Once the driver returns to the vehicle, payment for the parking is made via the application on the mobile device and the driver may leave the parking lot.

The invention provides a compact, coinless, ticketless parking meter device which includes a timer means; a payment facilitating arrangement operable in cooperation with a non-cash payment instrument for effecting payment of a monetary amount for a parking period; a display means for displaying a balance remaining of the parking period; and a power supply unit for supplying power to the timer means, the payment facilitating arrangement and the display means.

Parking meter monitoring and payment system

Methods and systems for automatically monitoring a parking meter associated with a vehicle. The system includes a transceiver configured to receive location data of a mobile device associated with a user of the vehicle. The system includes an electronic control unit (ECU) of the vehicle configured to receive or determine parking meter data associated with the parking meter. The ECU is configured to determine, based on the parking meter data, whether a time remaining on the parking meter is below a time threshold. The ECU is configured to automatically communicate, to the mobile device, a warning communication indicating the time remaining on the parking meter when the time remaining on the parking meter is below the time threshold and the location data of the mobile device indicates that a location of the mobile device is more than a threshold distance away from a location of the vehicle.

MANAGING SELF-DRIVING VEHICLES WITH PARKING SUPPORT

Various examples are directed to systems and methods for operating a self-driving vehicle. A service arrangement system may select a first self-driving vehicle for providing a first transportation service. The service arrangement system may send to the first self-driving vehicle, first stopping location data describing a first set of stopping locations associated with the first transportation service. The service arrangement system may cause the first self-driving vehicle to begin executing a route associated with the first transportation service The service arrangement system may receive stopping location use data indicating that the first self-driving vehicle is stopped at a first stopping location of the first set of stopping locations and send stopping location payment data to a parking management system. The stopping location payment data may indicate a payment for use of the first stopping location by the first self-driving vehicle.

Computer-implemented system and method for facilitating rental of private parking space by an urban resident

A computer-implemented system and method for facilitating rental of a private parking space by an urban resident are provided. Motor vehicle parking spaces located in a residential area are managed through a server. Smart parking devices that are each physically proximate to least one of the parking spaces are interfaced to the server. Vehicle occupancy sensors that are also each physically proximate to least one of the parking spaces are interfaced to the server. Parking availability indicators that are each associated with at least one of the parking spaces are interfaced to the server. The parking spaces are supplemented with a private parking space under legitimate control by a resident of the residential area. Use of the private parking space is managed through the server and the smart parking device nearest to the private parking space. Parking availability the parking spaces is indicated through the nearest parking availability indicator.

DETERMINING OVERLAP OF A PARKING SPACE BY A VEHICLE

A system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program and a method for determining vehicle overlap with a parking space is presented. The method may include accessing a set of pixel coordinates defining a location of a vehicle within an image, and translating the set of pixel coordinates to a set of global coordinates defining a geospatial location of the vehicle. The method may further include accessing a set of known coordinates of the parking space. The method may further include determining an overlap amount by comparing the global coordinates of the vehicle with the known global coordinates of the parking space, and determining the vehicle overlaps the parking space based on the overlap amount transgressing a threshold overlap amount. The method may further include updating a data object associated with the vehicle to indicate the vehicle overlaps the parking space.

Lighting fixture data hubs and systems and methods to use the same

Lighting fixture data hubs and systems and methods for use. An exemplary data hub comprises an annunciator configured to generate indications; a sensor configured to detect a zone comprising a plurality of parking spaces and to determine whether or not one or more vehicles and/or one or more pedestrians are present, the sensor further configured to emit one or more signals corresponding to said detection; a processor in communication with the annunciator and the sensor, the processor configured to receive the one or more signals from the sensor and operable to direct the annunciator to generate an indication in response to the signal; and a sensor unit housing having at least portions of the annunciator, the sensor, and the processor located therein, the sensor unit configured to attach to a device such that power supplied to the device is also used to supply power to the data hub.

PARKING SYSTEM AND METHOD

The disclosure relates to a method for transferring a motor vehicle to an automatic parking system which is designed to transfer the motor vehicle to a free parking space of the parking system without a driver. The parking system transmits a release code (C) to the motor vehicle, said release code being output in the motor vehicle so as to be perceivable to a motor vehicle user. After leaving the motor vehicle, the motor vehicle user transmits the release code to the parking system in order to grant a drive release. As soon as the drive release is granted, the motor vehicle is transferred to the free parking space of the parking system without the driver. The disclosure additionally relates to an automatic parking system and to a motor vehicle for carrying out the method.
