Modular multi-system gaming console

A modular multi-system gaming console can be configurable for use in conjunction with expansion consoles (also referred to as expansion modules, expansion units, and/or element modules herein) as a gaming console emulator and/or for use as an audio/video converter (e.g., an up-converter), data recorder, or streaming device. Further, the modular multi-system gaming console can evoke the original gaming experience of a game played on original hardware. A modular multi-system gaming console can provide a consistent platform for display, content management, statistical storage and analysis (e.g., high scores, fastest speed runs, etc.), and live streaming and other services (including core services described herein) across a multitude of gaming console platforms. A modular multi-system gaming console can also provide a more authentic game experience via active cartridge reading. Further, by providing a flexible and configurable architecture for the modular multi-system gaming console, support for new consoles can be added to the modular multi-system gaming console without requiring users to purchase an entirely new console that repeats hardware for providing the core services.

Embodiments of the present concept provide means to control the payback percentage of games being played on gaming devices. In one example, a gaming device includes a processor configured to initiate a payback-controlling event and determine a game outcome to display on the game display in response to a gaming event being initiated. Here, the determined game outcome is a payback-controlling outcome when the payback-controlling event satisfies the payback-controlling criterion, and the determined game outcome is a game outcome determined from the base-game paytable when the payback-controlling event does not satisfy the payback-controlling criterion.

Systems and Methods for Determining the Presence and Type of an Object

Described herein are systems and method for determining a presence and/or type of an object positioned on a platform. The system may include: a tag reader configured to determine a type of an object, the object including a tag readable by the tag reader; a load cell configured to detect the presence of the object on a platform, the object having a known weight; and the platform including at least one face for receiving the object. The platform is communicatively coupled to the load cell and the tag reader. The presence of the object is detected by the load cell housed in the platform when the object is position on the at least one face of the platform. The type of the object is determined by the tag reader housed in the platform when the object is in physical proximity to the platform.

A management system includes a recording device recording an image of a gaming chip and an inspection device determining a type and authenticity of the gaming chip. The gaming chip has a multilayer structure in which both sides of a colored layer are sandwiched between light color layers, surface printing representing a type of the gaming chip is performed on outer sides of the light color layers, and an authenticity recognition mark is printed on the colored layer of an inside of the light color layers by an infrared absorbing material. A visible light camera photographs a visible light image of the surface printing, and an infrared light camera photographs an infrared image of the internal printing. The inspection device determines the type and authenticity of the gaming chip using the visible light image and the infrared image.

Electronic gaming device with external lighting functionality

Examples disclosed herein relate to a gaming device including a memory, a processor, a display, a plurality of display areas located on the display, and a plurality of external lights located at an outer area of a front surface of the electronic gaming device. The plurality of external lights forming au-shape with a left side, a right side, and a bottom where each of the left side, the right side, and the bottom includes a first light column, a second light column, and a third light column. The gaming device including a processor that initiates a base game via the plurality of display areas located on the display.
