Document handler system and method with timed operation

A document handler system and method includes timed operation functionality in which the manufacturer of the document handler may input coded information in the document handler to establish a timed operation of the document handler which may be contingent on continued payments for use of the document handler. Alternatively, or in addition, the timed operation may be used to establish an appropriate warranty period during which the manufacturer is obligated to provide repairs, modification and/or support for the document handler.

SERVICE MESSAGING SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR A TRANSACTION MACHINE

A method includes generating a list of transactions performed by a user during a predetermined preceding time period; tabulating the list of transactions into a plurality of transaction groups, each transaction group having a matching characteristic; ranking the plurality of transaction groups; selecting at least one transaction group from the plurality of transaction groups based on the ranking of the plurality of transaction groups; generating a graphical user interface including at least one menu item corresponding to the at least one transaction group; and displaying the graphical user interface via a display.

Transaction storing and forwarding

After loss of communications between a cash handling device and a financial institution, transactions may continue to be processed. In one configuration, the transactions may be processed up to a predefined transaction limit. Transaction limits may be defined by a number of transactions, a dollar amount transacted or to be transacted, an amount of time and/or combinations thereof. Additionally or alternatively, the transaction limit may be specific to one or more types of transactions. Transaction data may be stored in memory until communication has been re-established, at which time the data may be transmitted to the financial institution for processing.

Automated teller machine

An automated teller machine includes: a main body; a deposit/withdrawal unit provided at one side in the main body and configured to separate and stack a medium; a customer service unit serving to receive the medium from or deliver the medium to a user; a tray unit configured to transfer the medium between the deposit/withdrawal unit and the customer service unit while reciprocating therebetween; and a bill stopper rotatably provided at an entrance of the deposit/withdrawal unit through which the tray unit passes to open and close the entrance of the deposit/withdrawal unit. The deposit/withdrawal unit includes: a housing; a separating/stacking module disposed in the housing to separate and stack the medium; and an opening/closing module rotatably provided at one side of the housing to allow the separating/stacking module to be exposed to the outside of the housing, the bill stopper being rotatably installed at the opening/closing module.

VISIBLE AND ACCESSIBLE ESCROW SYSTEMS AND METHODS

Disclosed herein are systems and methods for processing financial instruments in ATMs or other processing devices. A user can deposit financial instruments, such as cash or a check, into the ATM, to be processed to determine the monetary value of the financial instruments. Once counted and valued, the financial instruments can be dropped into an escrow chamber. The escrow chamber can have a door or gate such that the financial instruments are visible, but not accessible during the transaction. If the customer discovers an error during the transaction, the door or gate can transition to an open state allowing the customer to retrieve the financial instruments.

MODIFICATION OF TRANSACTION FEES

A method implemented on an electronic computing device includes receiving a request for an automated teller machine (ATM) transaction from an ATM. Authentication credentials are received of a customer of the ATM. The authentication credentials are associated with the request for the ATM transaction. A notification is received of a failure to execute the ATM transaction at the ATM. In response to the receiving a notification of the failure, a fee modification is issued to the customer of the ATM. The fee modification permits modification of a transaction fee associated with a subsequent ATM transaction at an alternative ATM.

System and methods for deposit transactions

Pre-staged deposit details for a deposit are received from a deposit interface and the details are linked to a code associated with a deposit bag. The code is subsequently scanned at a terminal, the pre-staged details are obtained based on the code, a lock box of the terminal is unlocked for the bag to be dropped into the lock box, a deposit transaction is processed based on the pre-staged details, and the box is locked. A real-time notification is provided within a staff interface that identifies the terminal and the transaction. The code is scanned when that bag is removed from the lock box and the pre-staged details are populated within the staff interface. Staff details are recorded for the transaction during a verification procedure. The staff details are posted to a financial institution backend system and any discrepancies between the pre-staged details and the staff deposit details are noted.

Dynamic Unauthorized Activity Detection and Control System
20210342797 · 2021-11-04 ·

Systems for dynamically detecting and controlling unauthorized activity are presented. In some examples, a request for deposit may be received by a self-service kiosk. One or more items may be submitted for deposit and may be evaluated. In some examples, evaluating the one or more items for deposit may include evaluating the items to determine whether they include metal or other material not associated with valid items for deposit, evaluating security features such as watermarks, embedded threads, ink colors, and the like, to determine whether they correspond to valid items for deposit, and the like. If the evaluated items are valid items for deposit, the deposit may be processed. If not, one or more mitigating actions may be executed to capture additional information, lock a user account, or the like.

Self-service modular drop safes

Novel modular smart management devices in the form of drop safes include the modular components of a chassis, door and technology cabinet. The drop safes enable retailers to make cash deposits quickly and safely within or near their own facilities. Various technology, including RFID readers, RFID tags, and other equipment allow the drop safes to identify each deposited bag. Employees utilize specialized apps on their mobile devices to facilitate deposit creation and other tasks. Novel methodologies for accessing the drop safes for emptying employ single-use, time-expiration type authorization codes along with other security measures to minimize risk and to provide other benefits. Novel structures along with methodologies for replacing, on-site, modular components with auto-detection of functionality during initialization and re-initialization enables for efficient replacement and upgrading of components, including the upgrading of safes to provide additional functionality.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR REAL-TIME CHEQUE PROCESSING AND RETURN AT AN AUTOMATED TELLER MACHINE

An automated teller machine comprises a communications module; an image module; a processor; and a memory coupled to the processor storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, configure the processor to receive a first cheque for deposit; engage the image module to capture an image of the first cheque; send, via the communications module and to a server computer system, a signal that includes the image of the first cheque for acceptance; send, via the communications module and to an automated teller machine switch, a signal that includes a request for transaction authorization approval based on the first cheque; receive, via the communications module and from the server computer system, a signal that includes an indication of acceptance of the image of the first cheque; receive, via the communications module and from the automated teller machine switch, a signal that includes an indication of approval of the request for the transaction authorization based on the first cheque; and responsive to receiving the signal that includes the indication of acceptance of the image of the first cheque and the signal that includes the indication of approval of the request for the transaction authorization, return the first cheque.
