SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR REDUCING ATM DEPOSIT LOSSES
20230368622 · 2023-11-16 · ·

A provider system includes one or more processors and non-transitory computer-readable media comprising instruction stored thereon that, when executed by the one or more processors, cause the one or more processors to receive, from an automated teller machine (ATM), deposit information corresponding to an interaction between a customer and the ATM, extract an event indicator value from the received deposit information, process the event indicator value, determine an event indicator trend for the ATM, and determine, based on the event indicator trend, a service condition of the ATM.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR AUTOMATED DEPOSIT ITEM HANDLING

A computer system for automatically handling and releasing funds for deposit items has a memory storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause the system to receive an image of a cheque received and scanned by an automated teller machine (ATM) for deposit into a first account of an institution associated with the ATM. The scanned image of the cheque is analyzed to identify an institution and account on which that cheque is drawn. If that account has sufficient available funds to cover the cheque, then the first account is credited in the amount of the cheque without placing a hold on any of the credited amount and funds of the account on which the cheque is drawn are encumbered in that same amount. After crediting the first account, an indication is provided that the funds are available (e.g., to withdraw). Related methods and computer-readable media are also disclosed.

IMMEDIATE RELEASE OF RESOURCE FOR DATA TRANSFER

In an aspect, the present application describes a computer system. The computer system includes a communications module and a processor coupled to the communications module. The computer system include a memory coupled to the processor storing instructions that, when executed by the computer system, cause the computer system to: receive, from an automated teller machine (ATM) and via the communications module, an indication of a deposit of a value instrument; save, in the memory, a retention instruction including an associated temporal period, the retention instruction preventing withdrawal of value instruments corresponding to an amount of the deposit; receive, via the communications module, an instruction to process a data transfer to a recipient, the data transfer to the recipient accessing at least a portion of the deposit; and process the data transfer to the recipient during the temporal period using at least a portion of the deposit.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR RETROFIT HOUSING FOR TRANSACTION DEVICES

A housing that facilitates a service operation for a transaction device includes a transfer cassette interface structured to receive a transfer cassette where the transfer cassette is structured to retrievably store banknotes, a media aperture interface structured to removably couple to a media aperture of the transaction device where the media aperture interface is coupled to a transfer arm structured to facilitate transferring banknotes to and from the media aperture and the media aperture interface, and a housing transport apparatus structured to facilitate transporting banknotes to and from the transfer cassette via at least one of the transfer cassette interface or the media aperture interface.

A mobile wireless device (100) in the configuration of user wearable glasses includes at least one lens including at least one transparent display (110). The at least one display is operable to provide visual outputs that are visually perceivable to the user of the device. The user is enabled to see through the at least one lens, physical surroundings in a direct field of view. The device includes at least one input device (116, 122, 114) which receives user inputs. At least one circuit is in operative connection with the at least one display, the at least one input device, a data store (106) and a wireless transceiver (120). At least one user input is operative to cause the device to communicate at least one wireless message which includes data usable to identify a financial account associated with the user. At least one remote circuit is operative responsive to the at least one wireless message to cause a financial transfer to or from the financial account.

Medium storage device and method of controlling the medium storage device

A medium storage device includes: a safe having, at a rear portion, an entrance for replenishment and recovery to which a transit cassette is connectable; an identification unit serving to identify whether a medium is a normal medium or a rejection medium; a temporary holding unit configured to temporarily accommodate a medium; a recycle cassette configured to accommodate the medium identified as the normal medium; a conveyance path configured to convey the medium between the identification unit, the temporary holding unit, and the recycle cassette; a control unit configured to control the conveyance path such that the medium replenished from the transit cassette is conveyed to the temporary holding unit, the medium conveyed to the temporary holding unit is conveyed to the identification unit, and the medium identified as the normal medium in the identification unit is conveyed to the recycle cassette.

Method and system for enabling cardless transactions at an ATM for any institutional entity

A method for performing on-behalf tokenization for an automated teller machine (ATM) transaction to enable cardless transactions for any institutional entity includes: receiving, by a receiver of a processing server, a withdrawal request from a first computing system, the withdrawal request including at least a payment token and transaction data; validating, by a processor of the processing server, the payment token included in the withdrawal request; transmitting, by a transmitter of the processing server, the payment token to a second computing system; receiving, by the receiver of the processing server, cryptographic data from the second computing system; transmitting, by the transmitter of the processing server, at least the payment token, cryptographic data, and transaction data to a third computing system, wherein the first computing system, third computing system, and processing server are separate and distinct systems.

System and method for detecting ATM fraud using a force sensor

Systems and methods for ATM fraud detection are presented. ATM fraud detection may be provided in the context of including a currency sensor in the ATM to count currency notes. ATM fraud detection may be obtained by using a currency sensor, such as a scanner, to image and count any currency notes that remain after being dispensed to a user, and determining if the count is correct for the currency notes dispensed. A count discrepancy resulting from removal of some but not all dispensed currency notes would indicate attempted theft or fraud.

SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR APPLYING ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT DOSES TO CURRENCY BILLS

An apparatus includes a bill feeder, a housing for holding a bill that is received from the bill feeder, sensors coupled to the housing, an ultraviolet (UV) lamp that emits ultraviolet light to illuminate a portion of the bill, a UV shutter to control a power of the ultraviolet light on the bill, a memory and a processor. The processor configured to determine at a property of the bill from a first output of a first sensor, to determine a bill contaminant on the bill from a second output from a second sensor, to retrieve a UV dose rate to be applied by the ultraviolet light needed to sterilize the bill based on the type of bill contaminant on the bill, the property of the bill, an illumination area or any combination thereof, and to apply the UV dose rate to the bill.

UTILIZING A SHORT-RANGE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION DEVICE TO PROVIDE KEYLESS ACCESS TO A SAFE DEPOSIT BOX

A device receives, from a short-range wireless communication device associated with a safe deposit box, first data identifying a first transaction card, and identifies a bank employee associated with the first data. The device determines whether the bank employee is authorized to access the safe deposit box, and starts a timer when the bank employee is authorized to access the safe deposit box. The device receives, from the short-range wireless communication device, second data identifying a second transaction card, and determines whether the second data is received prior to an expiration of the timer. The device identifies a customer associated with the second data when the second data is received prior to the expiration of the timer, and determines whether the customer is authorized to access the safe deposit box. The device causes the safe deposit box to be unlocked when the customer is authorized.
