SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING POURING WATER FROM A BREWER
A brewer includes: a nozzle configured to dispense a stream of water downward; a holder configured to hold a container for coffee grinds or tea below the nozzle to receive the stream of water; a first electrode disposed adjacent to the stream of water dispensed by the nozzle; a voltage source electrically coupled to the first electrode through an electrical circuit and configured to apply a voltage to the first electrode; and a controller communicatively coupled to the electrical circuit and configured to control a magnitude of the voltage applied to the first electrode from the voltage source. Varying the magnitude of the voltage applied to the first electrode generates an electrical field that changes a distance of the stream of water from the first electrode.
MILK FROTHING METHOD, SYSTEM, AND APPARATUS
A milk-frothing apparatus for preparing high quality micro-foamed milk for coffee drinks consistently and at high volume. A machine having one or more steaming stations includes an elevator at each station with an elevator-mounted steaming wand have a precise angle at the discharge end. The elevator-mounted steaming wand is configured to travel from an upward stowed status to a downward deployed status to insert the discharge end of the elevator-mounted steaming wand into milk inside a pitcher precisely located on the machine. A steam boiler is hydraulically coupled to the elevator-mounted steam wand via flexible tubing and an infrared sensor monitors the temperature of the pitcher during a downward deployed status. An LCD screen with operator controls and displays oriented to coincide spatially with the elevator indicate different operational settings selected by the user and related to machine operation.
MACHINE AND METHOD FOR PREPARING COFFEE BEVERAGES
Some embodiments described here concern a machine for preparing coffee beverages by infusing a coffee powder in an infusion unit. Other embodiments concern a method to prepare a coffee beverage, including a step of pre-infusing and a step of infusing the coffee powder.
Method for brewing hot beverages using ultrasound
The embodiment relates to the convenient amateur creation of a beverage where the extraction of flavor into a solvent is obtained using ultrasound. Where the solvent and solute are held in a removable carafe which has an ultrasound transducer. A control system will trigger ultrasound into the solvent for specific durations in order to quickly create the desired outcome. The use of one or more computers that will be able to implement a recipe, control the machine, and interact with the user ensure that the end user is able to operate the machine easily.
System and method for real-time automatic scoring of physical and operational properties of automatic espresso coffee machines for both mechanical and end-user optimal use criteria
A system and method is provided for real time automatic scoring of physical and operational properties of automatic espresso coffee machines applicable both for a single machine and a network of machines. The scoring scheme includes semantic context based on automatic monitoring of operation process variables and end-user annotations and scoring criteria. The method is decoupled from the coffee machine's controlling apparatus and utilizes a sensory reading device that is able to communicate over standard and proprietary network protocols with sensors and with other devices of the same type over direct, peer to peer or standard network, and Internet connections.
Hydraulic siphon assisted brewing apparatus with agitation mechanism
A beverage brewing system having, inter alia, a brew hopper, a hydraulic siphoning component affixed thereto and a solenoid-actuated door switch mechanism. The beverage brewing system includes a hydraulic siphoning component configured to allow hot water to bloom and steep for a controlled amount of time in a brew hopper. The beverage brewing system further includes a brew-hopper agitation mechanism.
Automatic coffee maker and method of preparing a brewed beverage
An automated beverage brewing apparatus is provided including a controller for identifying a volume of bloom water and a bloom time for preparing a brewed beverage. A user interface provides at least one input to the controller. The controller is configured to vary the volume of the bloom water based on a type of brewed beverage and a size of brewed beverage input via the user interface.
BEVERAGE PREPARATION MACHINE WITH CONTROL BASED ON DEFORMATION OF AN EXTRACTION HEAD FRAME STRUCTURE AND METHOD TO CONTROL THE MACHINE BASED ON SAID DEFORMATION
The invention concerns a beverage preparation machine (1) for preparing a beverage from a food substance contained in a capsule (13). The brewing chamber (35) comprises two chamber portions (34a, 34b, 12) relatively movable each other, means (7) being provided to apply a clamping force to said chamber portions in order to close the brewing chamber, the clamping means and at least part of the chamber portions (34a, 34b, 12) being connected to a frame structure (33) of the machine. A machine control unit (17) is also provided. The machine (1) comprises at least one sensor means (50) for sensing the deformations of at least a resilient deformable portion. The sensor means is connected to the control unit and, based on the sensed deformation of said deformable portion, carries out at least one of the following operation: controlling of a machine switching-on, a clamping means closure, a capsule presence in the brewing chamber, a fluid injection in the brewing chamber, a fluid temperature, detecting of the type of ingredient capsule amongst a set of different capsule types. Also a method to control a beverage preparation machine on the basis of the deformation of said resilient deformable portion is claimed.
Ground coffee distribution method, apparatus, and system
Methods, apparatus, and system to distribute or compact coffee grounds, such as to form a puck in a portafilter. The methods, apparatus, and system may be used to compact coffee grounds wherein a resulting puck of coffee grounds in the portafilter has an even level, a uniform and or continuous density distribution, results in no or reduced formation of channels, no or reduced squirting of extracted coffee, and results in consistent and repeatable results. The methods, apparatus, and system may be used to form multiple layers in a puck, for use in preparing layered espresso.
Flavored Beverage Carbonation Process
A beverage system and methods for preparing flavored beverages are provided. In one embodiment, the beverage system includes a housing, a flavorant system, and a processor. The housing includes a mixing chamber configured to operably couple to a fluid reservoir and pressurized gas source. The processor is disposed in the housing and can be configured to cause, in response to at least one input, the separate dispensing of a fluid and a flavorant into a receptacle. The processor can also cause the delivery of gas from the pressurized gas source to the mixing chamber, where it can be used to form a carbonated fluid.
