A system for providing emergency alerts is provided. The system includes a plurality of sensors, a plurality of notification appliances, and processing circuitry. Each sensor monitors at least one parameter of a space and generates sensed data. Each notification appliance is operable to emit light in a plurality of colors. The processing circuitry detects, based on the sensed data, that at least one event among a plurality of events has occurred in the space, and determines a first evacuation path from the space that bypasses a location of the detected event. The processing circuitry further operates the plurality of notification appliances to emit light in a color assigned to the detected event among the plurality of colors and provide direction guidance for the first evacuation path. The direction guidance for the first evacuation path is provided by controlling one or more characteristics of the emitted light.

A peer-to-peer system for providing egress guidance. Each of a plurality of egress advisement devices can receive an indication of an emergency in a building and user presence information, transmit to a cloud data store a request for one or more egress plans, receive from the cloud data store a subset of the egress plans that are identified by matching a location identifier for each of the subset of the plans with the location information of the egress advisement device, locally select one of the subset of the plans that is customized for a location of the egress advisement device, a current location of users in the building in proximity to the egress advisement device, and a location of the emergency, and output the selected plan to guide one or more of the users in proximity to the egress advisement device to exit the building.

Centrally managed emergency egress guidance for building with distributed egress advisement devices
11631305 · 2023-04-18 · ·

A system for centrally managing and executing emergency egress guidance. A first computing device can receive an indication of an emergency and user presence information in a building, retrieve, from a local data store, generated egress instructions for the building, select, for each of a plurality of egress advisement devices and based on the emergency indication, user presence information, and location of each egress advisement device, one of the egress instructions that is customized for each egress advisement device, and transmit, to each egress advisement device, the selected instructions to be outputted to guide users to exit the building. Each egress advisement device can determine that communications are terminated between the egress advisement devices and the computing device, obtain the emergency indication and user presence information, and retrieve, from the local data store, a second of the egress instructions associated with the location of the device.

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for identifying a target location to an occupant are provided. The apparatus comprises a laser rotatably coupled to a body of the apparatus, and at least one sensor connected to the body. The at least one sensor is configured to detect an alarm, and when the at least one sensor detects the alarm, the laser is configured to emit a laser beam to indicate a target location to an occupant. The method for identifying or indicating a target location comprises detecting, by a sensor of an apparatus, an alarm, in response to detecting the alarm, outputting, by the sensor, a signal, in response to the signal, activating a laser rotatably coupled to a body of the apparatus to identify or indicate the target location. The invention may be used for emergency situations to indicate a target location such as an exit for occupants of a building or residence.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR WAYFINDING IN HAZARDOUS ENVIRONMENTS

Systems and methods for wayfinding in hazardous environments are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method for wayfinding in a hazardous environment may include: (1) receiving, at an emergency response computer program executed by an electronic device, a plurality of real time streams of data, each real time stream of data from a sensing device in an area; (2) detecting, by the emergency response computer program, an alarm condition in the area based on the real-time streams of data; (3) determining, by the emergency response computer program, that the alarm condition satisfies an alarm condition rule; (4) calculating, by the emergency response computer program, a plurality of routes to an egress point from the area; and (5) controlling, by the emergency response computer program, a digital signage in the area to display one of the plurality of routes the egress point.
