An emergency lighting system provides testing and reporting functionality in a rapidly repeatable fashion for environments with numerous emergency lighting units. In one or more embodiments, the emergency lighting system comprises a plurality of emergency lighting units capable of conducting one or more tests and reporting their operating condition as test results. One or more terminals receive and aggregate the test results and present the same to a user. Emergency lighting units having an undesirable operating condition can then be readily identified and addressed.

A plurality electronic alarms may be provided, which when activated, indicate a route to at least one exit. A plurality may be one electronic alarm, and the alarms may emit an audible sound, such as a voice informing people within the building of a distance/direction to an exit. A plurality may be one or more electronic alarms, and when more than one alarm is provided, each alarm may generate a different audible sound, such that a person can determine a direction in which to travel to exit the building. The sound emitted from different alarms may differ in pitch or frequency of modulation. In addition, the sound emitted from different alarms may be sequenced in the direction of travel. In addition, or alternatively, the plurality of alarms may produce visual cues indicating the direction in which to travel to exit the building. The visual cues may also be sequenced in the direction of travel.

Some embodiments provide a non-transitory machine-readable medium that stores a program. The program receives sensor data from a set of sensors. Each sensor in the set of sensors is configured to sense a physical quantity in an environment. Based on the sensor data, the program further determines a set of configurations for a set of smart devices. The set of smart devices includes a set of smart emergency devices installed in a building. Each smart emergency device in the set of smart emergency devices is configured to provide emergency exit information to guide exiting the building. The program also sends the set of configurations to the set of smart devices.

Some embodiments provide a non-transitory machine-readable medium that stores a program. The program receives a set of sensor data from a set of sensors. Each sensor in the set of sensors is configured to sense a physical quantity. Based on the set of sensor data, the program further determines that a particular event has occurred. Based on the determination that the particular event has occurred, the program also sends a set of notifications to a set of subscribers.

Methods and systems for generating escape routes are provided. With a home owner's or insured's permission, a smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may analyze data received from a plurality of smart devices disposed on, within, or proximate to a home, as well as data received from an insurance provider. If it is determined that an emergency situation necessitating an evacuation exists, the smart home controller or insurance provider remote processor may automatically generate escape routes to guide occupants to safety. The smart home controller may then transmit the generated escape routes to inform occupants of emergency situation and how to reach safety. The smart home controller and/or insurance provider may also issue commands to smart devices to ensure the safety of the generated escape routes. Insurance policies, premiums, or discounts may be adjusted based upon the escape route determination functionality.

Methods and systems for automatically mitigating risks of damage caused by the breaking of a circuit are provided. A smart home controller and/or insurance provider remote processor may analyze data received from a smart device disposed on, within, or proximate to a property associated with monitoring the flow of electricity. If it is determined that a risk of damage due to the flow of electricity being cut off repeatedly exists, the smart home controller or remote processor may automatically generate a repair request to schedule a repair event that mitigates the risks. The smart home controller may transmit information about the risks to a homeowner and/or an insurance provider. The insurance provider remote processor may interpret the transmitted data and perform insurance activities, such as providing a discount or premium, and/or adjusting an insurance policy associated with the property based upon the insured property being equipped with risk mitigation functionality.

Aspects of the present disclosure include methods, apparatus, and systems for mass notification including receiving the message from an alarm notification device via a link and causing the projector to project the message on a surface using the light patterns.

An exit sign that includes an access control point and a system that includes such an exit sign are disclosed. The exit sign includes: a power circuit, a battery that is charged by the power circuit, a light that is powered by at least one of the power circuit and the battery, a sign that is at least partially illuminated by the light, a controller, a wireless radio coupled to the controller, and a relay coupled to the controller and to the actuation device, where the controller controls the relay to actuate the actuation device.

In an embodiment of the invention, a guest quarters coordination method during muster on a vessel includes initiating a muster event on a vessel and responding to the muster event, in each cabin on the vessel, by activating a television display in the cabin, retrieving a muster location assigned to the cabin and displaying the muster location on the television display.

A computer device for communicating an emergency notification receives an alarm notification from a detection device. The alarm notification corresponding to an alarm condition sensed by the detection device within a space. The computer device detects an alarm condition location of the alarm condition based on a detection device location of the detection device. The computer device determines an exit location of an exit to avoid the alarm condition that triggered the alarm notification. The computer device determines an egress path within the space to avoid the alarm condition based on the exit location and the alarm condition location. The computer device transmits a plurality of commands to a plurality of notification devices within the space to trigger output of an egress notification in a coordinated pattern to identify the egress path. The plurality of commands trigger audible outputs by the plurality of notification devices.
