Control of RFID Devices for Increased Reliability and Effectiveness in an RFID Electronic Article Surveillance System
RFID devices are provided for improving the performance of electronic surveillance article systems. The RFID devices may be modified in any of a number of ways to decrease their peak sensitivity and increase their bandwidth, thereby stabilizing their read range. The performance of an RFID device will depend on the nature of the article to which it is associated, such that the nature of the article to which the RFID device is to be associated may be factored into the design of the RFID device to equalize the performance at an operating frequency of RFID devices associated with different articles. By reducing the peak sensitivity and increasing the bandwidth of RFID devices in an electronic article surveillance system, the size of a transition zone between two read zones of the system may be reduced.
Security system communicator and keypad device
Techniques are described for replacing a keypad of an existing security system within a property with a communication-enabled keypad device with dual functioning capabilities as a communicator device and a keypad device. In some implementations, data is received from a security panel of a property. A keypad bus protocol of the security panel is determined based on the data received from the security panel. Sensor data is received from one or more sensors located within the property. A monitoring system command that is not specified within a keypad bus of the security panel is determined based on based on the obtained sensor data. The monitoring system command is converted to a panel command using the keypad bus protocol. The panel command is transmitted on the keypad bus of the security panel.
Dual mode EAS/RFID tag based on self tuning RFID chip
A self-tuning RFID device having an input capacitance that is adjustable in response to a detected signal. The self-tuning RFID device preferably comprises a variable capacitance RFID chip coupled to an inductor, and an input circuit driven by the detected signal from the variable capacitance RFID chip. A change in capacitance with the detected signal is delayed by a specific amount of time, thereby allowing the self-tuning RFID device to function as a dual mode EAS and RFID tag. The ESA functionality can be deactivated by a high field at or near its resonance frequency without disabling the RFID functionality. The effect of the high field may change the input capacitance permanently changing its resonance.
TAG SYSTEM WITH A MODULATOR OF AN ANTENNA MODULATOR AND METHODS OF USE
Systems and methods for operating a tag system. The methods comprising: emitting a wireless signal from an antenna of the tag with a first signal characteristic when the tag is proximate to an active antenna modulation marker; changing an impedance of a sensor from a first impedance value to a second impedance value when the active antenna modulation marker is exposed to a stimulus; and emitting a wireless signal from the antenna of the tag with a second signal characteristic when the tag is proximate to the active antenna modulation marker and the sensor has the second impedance value.
EAS DEVICE WITH TAMPER DETECTION
An electronic article surveillance (EAS) device has a body and a mount for attaching to a protected item. The body houses electronic elements and the mount adhesively attaches to the protected item. A stem with tabs extends upward from the mount. The body has an aperture for receiving the stem. The stem tabs and body interlock to keep the body attached to the item. A actuator from a switch in the body extends through the stem toward the item. A shaft and a separate floater element initially associated with the mount interpose between the plunger and the item. When the device is attached to an item and armed, tampering with the device dislodges the floater and allows the shaft and actuator of the switch to extend. This changes the state of the mount switch and the electronics in the body determine an alarm condition and issue an alarm.
Invisible acoustic safe
The present disclosure describes a system and method designed to protect the contents of a region or space within a facility (e.g., building, home, vehicle, outdoor space, etc.). The system is configured to identify an area to be protected (e.g., nightstand, medicine cabinet, safe), monitor surroundings, and manage and deploy response(s) to threats to the region or space under protection. The system may also be configured to provide incremental warnings, interventions, or countermeasures to deter people or animals from accessing the Protected Space.
EAS security system incorporating time of flight sensing
An electronic article surveillance (EAS) system and method of operating the system, including one or more processors and memory. The memory contains instructions to cause the processors to receive data from a first sensor indicating the presence of an electronic surveillance tag within a first predetermined space, receive data from a second sensor including tracking information that indicates a distance of the second sensor from a person in possession of the electronic surveillance tag within a second predetermined space, determine a speed and/or direction of movement of the person based on the data from the second sensor, and detect a theft event and execute an alarm routine based on the presence of the electronic surveillance tag within the first predetermined space and the speed and/or direction of movement of the person within the second predetermined space.
Anti-theft retail merchandise hook with radio transmission
A signal-emitting retail display device that includes a wire having a top portion and a bottom portion, the top portion configured to support a label holder, the bottom portion configured to store one or more retail items. The signal-emitting retail display device also has an electronic unit that includes an emitter. The emitter is configured to emit a warning signal, and configured to transmit a wireless signal to an alarm box in response to the warning signal. The wire is electrically coupled to the electronic unit such that the wire functions as an antenna for the transmission of the wireless signal to the alarm box.
Comprehensive system and method of universal real-time linking of real objects to a machine, network, internet, or software service
A system for detecting placement or misplacement of an object includes a wireless tag; a first electronic device (“FED”) associated with the tag to automatically detect signals from the tag, determine a position of the FED, transmit the position and status to an external electronic device or network (“EED”) in response to the status indicating that the tag and the FED are within a predetermined range, and transmit the position and status to the EED in response to the status indicating that the tag and the FED are outside of the predetermined range; and a second electronic device (“SED”) that is unassociated with the tag to automatically detect signals from the tag, determine a position of the SED, determine an identifier for the tag using the signals, and transmit the position of the SED and the identifier to the EED.
ELECTRONIC ARTICLE SURVEILLANCE AND SECURITY DEVICES
There is disclosed an improved disposable keeper that has no locking or unlocking mechanism and which is of a reduced size. The keeper may comprise a rigid or flexible casing that substantially corresponds to the shape of a product and adapted to cover at least one portion of one side of the product but not fully enclosing the product; a security element or a non-EAS printed label attached to the casing and adapted to be inaccessible to a consumer when the keeper is attached to the product; and a flexible adhesive support attached to the casing and adapted to wrap around the product or a double sided adhesive support to attach the Keeper to a product. Additionally, keepers are disclosed which attach by a two-sided adhesive to a product and which if removed will damage the product packaging and detrimentally effect the resale of the product.
