Autonomous robot

A robot in a location interacts with a user. The robot includes a camera, an image recognition processor, a microphone and a loudspeaker, a voice assistant, and a wireless transceiver. The robot moves around and creates a model of the location, and recognizes changes. It recognizes objects of interest, beings, and situations. The robot monitors the user and recognizes body language and gesture commands, as well as voice commands. The robot communicates with the user, the TV, and other devices. It may include environment sensors and health status sensors. It acts as a user companion by answering queries, executing commands, and issuing reminders. It may monitor to determine if the user is well. The robot may monitor objects of interest, their placement and their status. When necessary, it communicates with the user.

Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to, for example, a method for object detection, recognition, classification and tracking using a distributed networked architecture. In some embodiments, the distributed network architecture may include one or more sensor units wherein the image acquisition and the initial feature extraction are performed and a gateway processor for further data processing. Some aspects of the present disclosure are also directed to a vision system for object detection, and to algorithms implemented in the vision system for executing the method acts for object detection, recognition, classification and/or tracking.

Embodiments of the present invention provide a skip-scanning identification method and apparatus, a self-service cash register terminal and system. The method includes: obtaining a video of a user scanning an item; determining posture data of the user based on the obtained video; determining, according to the posture data of the user, a time period in which a scanning action of the user takes place; receiving a scanning result of the item; and determining whether the user has skipped scanning the item based on the scanning result and the time period.
