SOPHISTICATED ALARM SYSTEM
The disclosure relates to an alarm system comprising a plurality of detectors, each configured to detect an event in an environment and to emit an event detection signal, and a plurality of alarm signal emitters, each configured to emit at least one alarm signal in case of the detection of an event, the detectors and the emitters being linked to one another, wherein each of the emitters is configured to emit a plurality of distinct alarm signals. In case of the detection of an event by a first detector, a first identifier is assigned to at least one first emitter, the closest to the first detector out of the plurality of emitters, and an alarm generation instruction is transmitted to the first emitter with the first identifier, to activate the first emitter with a first alarm signal which is a function of the first identifier.
Alert system for internet of things (IOT) devices
A method and apparatus for monitoring operational parameters in an IoT device is provided. An exemplary method includes performing a statistical analysis of a system metric. A determination is made as to whether an alert limit has been breached. If so, a message is constructed and dispatched to a server.

Device for generating sound messages and associated verification method
The present invention relates to a device for generating sound messages, comprising: a generation chain configured to generate a first and a second sound signal carrying a useful audio signal and a test audio signal; a conversion chain configured to transform the first and second sound signals into first and second analog signals; and a verification chain configured to extract the test audio signal from a combination of the analog signals to verify the integrity of the useful audio signal. The first sound signal corresponds to the sum of the test audio signal and the useful audio signal, and the second sound signal corresponds to the sum of the test audio signal and an opposite signal corresponding to the opposite of the useful audio signal.
Security / automation system control panel with diagnostic tool
Example implementations include a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium comprising executing a diagnostic tool locally at a control panel; and providing, by the diagnostic tool, via a display of the control panel, information related to a signal strength of a connection between the control panel and at least one device configured to communicate with the control panel over the connection.

PATIENT MONITOR ALARM SPEAKER ANALYZER
A patient monitor can diagnose whether its speaker is blocked, malfunctioning, or at a volume that is too low. For example, the monitor can include a processor that can diagnose the speaker by recording a microphone input signal. The processor can compare the microphone input signal to an expected alarm signal that should be output by the speaker. If the two do not match or reasonably correspond to one another, then the processor may increase the volume of the alarm to determine whether doing so can overcome an obstruction, noise, or potential malfunction. The microphone can again detect the speaker output, and the processor can again make another comparison or analysis of the input with the speaker output. If the speaker output as detected via the microphone is still insufficiently loud, then the patient monitor may output an indication that the speaker has a problem.

Security / automation system control panel with removable back speaker
Example implementations include a method, apparatus, and computer-readable medium comprising first broadcasting, by at least one primary speaker of a control panel, a first sound toward a front or a side of the control panel; and second broadcasting, concurrently with the first broadcasting, by a removable back speaker that is removably attachable to a back side of the control panel, a second sound toward the back side of the control panel. In some aspects, the removable back speaker is configured as a stand for placing the control panel on a flat surface.
