Doorbell system with pulse-driven boost rectifier

In some embodiments, a power supply in a doorbell system includes a boost rectifier circuit with a plurality of active devices arranged in a bridge topology that are configured to receive an AC input voltage, generate a DC output voltage by rectifying the AC input voltage, drive an electric load using the rectified DC voltage, and boost an amplitude of the AC input voltage. Two of the plurality of active devices in the boost rectifier circuit may be pulse driven and can control an operation of a mechanical or digital chime device. The chime device can include a solenoid and the boost rectifier circuit may utilize the solenoid as an energy storage element to facilitate the boosting of the amplitude of the AC input voltage. The boost rectifier circuit may boost the AC input voltage by at least a multiplication factor of two.

A failure detection apparatus includes: an output portion that outputs from an audio output device a confirmation signal having a frequency in a band other than the audible band; an input portion to which an input signal is inputted from an audio input device; and a failure detection portion that detects whether the audio output device and the audio input device are operating normally on the basis of the confirmation signal and the input signal.

Alert system for internet of things (IoT) devices

A method and apparatus for monitoring operational parameters in an IoT device is provided. An exemplary method includes performing a statistical analysis of a system metric. A determination is made as to whether an alert limit has been breached. If so, a message is constructed and dispatched to a server.

Alert fault detection system and method

A method and system of fault detection for an alert generation system. In the audio alert generation system, a stored digital alert audio file is selected to be processed to generate an analog audio signal to drive a speaker. An alert fault detection system obtaining a signal from the audio alert generation system, converts the obtained signal to a digitally-formatted obtained audio signal, detects a fault in the audio alert generation system by comparing the digitally-formatted obtained audio signal with the stored digital alert audio file, and triggers a fault indicator.

Methods, systems, and devices for patient monitoring are described. The method may include receiving an alarm indication associated with a default alarm threshold for a measured physiological parameter and detecting that a clinician is accessing the medical device in response to the alarm indication. After detecting that the clinician is accessing the medical device, the medical device may display an alarm message associated with the alarm indication. The method may further include storing an intervention action associated with an action of the clinician in response to the alarm indication.

Fire alarm systems

The present disclosure generally relates to the field of fire alarms. The teachings thereof may be embodied in a strobe notification appliance having: a boost circuit connected to an input voltage; an energy storage circuit charged by the boost circuit; a drive circuit generating a drive current; an LED circuit with at least one LED element; a first sampling circuit collecting an overall voltage drop of all the LED elements; and a control circuit configured to adjust the drive circuit to supply a working current during an alarming stage and supply a detection current during a detection stage. The detection current is lower than the working current and thereby light energy produced by the LED elements during the detection stage is lower than alarming light energy produced during the alarming stage. During the detection stage, the control circuit determines whether the LED circuit works normally based on the collected overall voltage drop.

PATIENT MONITOR ALARM SPEAKER ANALYZER

A patient monitor can diagnose whether its speaker is blocked, malfunctioning, or at a volume that is too low. For example, the monitor can include a processor that can diagnose the speaker by recording a microphone input signal. The processor can compare the microphone input signal to an expected alarm signal that should be output by the speaker. If the two do not match or reasonably correspond to one another, then the processor may increase the volume of the alarm to determine whether doing so can overcome an obstruction, noise, or potential malfunction. The microphone can again detect the speaker output, and the processor can again make another comparison or analysis of the input with the speaker output. If the speaker output as detected via the microphone is still insufficiently loud, then the patient monitor may output an indication that the speaker has a problem.
