Lane level traffic

Lane level traffic levels are determined based on traffic camera images. A controller aligns a three-dimensional map with a traffic camera view, and identifies multiple lanes in the traffic camera view based on lane delineations of the three-dimensional map. The controller calculates a traffic parameter based on the multiple lanes in image frames from the traffic camera view and provides a traffic graphic based on the traffic parameter.

A Visual Communication System for a Helmet

The present disclosure relates to a visual communication system for a helmet comprising: an array of light emitting devices arranged inside the helmet in a manner such that light emitted by the light emitting device is visible by a user of the helmet; a data communication interface arranged to receive situational related data form one or more sources; and a processing module arranged to process the situational related data and generate a light signal providing driving or riding guidance to the user of the helmet.

This invention localizes traffic condition detection and classification to a vehicle. Vehicles work cooperatively to fuse their traffic condition assessments so as to produce larger geographical coverage and more reliable evidence of the conditions. The system can be executed on an onboard device which includes at least one of the following: GPS capabilities, connection connected to the vehicle to measure vehicle speed, or communication with a cell phone. In the example of the cell phone, speed can be computed from phone GPS, a GPRS/CDMA, or both. Otherwise, vehicle speed can be determined obtained from in-vehicle on-board diagnostic system (e.g. using the OBD-II protocol) or based on GPS and accelerometer readings.

Systems And Methods To Assist A Customer Retrieve A Package From An Autonomous Vehicle

The disclosure generally pertains to systems and methods for assisting a customer retrieve a package from an autonomous vehicle. In an example procedure, the autonomous vehicle may detect the customer waiting at a first spot and may determine that the first spot is unsuitable/unsafe for the customer to retrieve a package from a locked compartment in the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle may therefore instruct the customer to move to a second spot that is safer and closer to the compartment and may then execute an authentication procedure to authenticate the customer and unlock a door of the compartment. In an alternative approach, the autonomous vehicle may travel to a parking spot that is safer and closer to where the customer is waiting (rather than instructing the customer to move) before authenticating and unlocking the door of the compartment to allow the customer to retrieve the package.

ENHANCED VEHICLE OPERATION

An arrival time of a primary vehicle to arrive at a stopping location is predicted based a current path of the primary vehicle. A predicted transit time period of a secondary vehicle to move to the stopping location is received. Upon determining that a current time is a time that is the predicted transit time period subtracted from the arrival time, a message is sent from the primary vehicle to the secondary vehicle instructing the secondary vehicle to move to the stopping location.

The virtual server returns average speed data for road segments, which is displayed on the road maps. The system includes sharing average speed data calculated as well average speed data received from the plurality of vehicles to other vehicles, thereby enhancing the real-time communication of traffic and/or road condition data.

The section curvature includes at least one section start point and at least one section end point. The section curvature is based at least in part on a heading angle, the heading angle defining an angle between a projected line of travel of the vehicle and a line segment from a vehicle position to the section end point. A distance to a lane boundary is predicted based at least in part on the identified section curvature. One or more vehicle subsystems is actuated based at least in part on the predicted distance to the lane boundary.
