Adaptive control of vehicular traffic

A traffic control system for controlling traffic at interconnected intersections is provided, where the system comprises a receiver that receives traffic data that indicates states of vehicles approaching an intersection of the interconnected intersections and directions of the vehicles exiting the intersection. Further, the system comprises a processor that determines intersection crossing times and velocities of vehicles approaching the intersection by minimizing at least one of a total travel time or a maximum travel time of the vehicles for crossing the intersection. The contribution of each vehicle of the vehicles approaching the intersection in the at least one of a total travel time or a maximum travel time is weighted based on directions of the vehicles and traffic at next intersection. Further, the system comprises a transmitter that transmits the intersection crossing times and velocities to the vehicles exiting the intersection for controlling the traffic at the interconnected intersections.

DATA PROCESSING FOR CONNECTED AND AUTONOMOUS VEHICLES

A method may be implemented to prioritize and analyze data exchanged in a connected vehicle transit network. The method may include receiving, at a roadside unit, vehicle data from a connected vehicle. The method may further include prioritizing the vehicle data received from the connected vehicle based on a level of urgency, network latency or available computing resources.

This apparatus and system may improve management for the flow of traffic by providing a lower barrier for entry for municipalities and other entities to collaborate on traffic management. In some embodiments, those in control may create a tiered system for a series of lights within a connected block. In some implementations, those in control may create a tiered system over a larger grid system, such as an entire neighborhood, district, city, or state. In some aspects, the apparatus and system may allow those in control to set priorities for how to handle developing traffic conditions.

Method for signal timing in a four-legged isolated signalized intersection

A method for determining space allocation and signal timing of an isolated signalized intersection consists of at least one remote server and a processing module that is communicably coupled with the at least one remote server. A plurality of traffic-related data, wherein the plurality of traffic-related data reflects activity at the isolated signalized intersection, is received through the processing module. A space determination process is performed on the plurality of traffic-related data through the processing module. Next, a timing determination process is performed on the plurality of traffic-related data through the processing module in order to minimize the average intersection delay at the isolated signalized intersection. Based upon the results from the space determination process and the timing determination process a cycle length is determined for the isolated signalized intersection.

The Audio Frequency Induction Loop receiving device comprises an Audio Frequency Induction Loop receiver and a processing circuitry. The Audio Frequency Induction Loop receiver is configured to receive a signal via a magnetic field generated by the Audio Frequency Induction Loop transmitting device installed in the vehicle. The processing circuitry is configured to cause the Audio Frequency Induction Loop receiving device to detect the magnetic field generated by the Audio Frequency Induction Loop transmitting device and generate an alert signal for alerting about the moving vehicle.

Embodiments of the present disclosure can provide a road traffic analysis method and an apparatus. The method can comprise obtaining a traffic parameter of a road intersection by analyzing road traffic information of the road intersection, determining a reference adjustment length for each phase of a traffic signal cycle corresponding to each lane of the road intersection based on the road traffic information and the traffic parameter. The traffic signal cycle has one or more phases. The method can also comprise determining a first adjustment length when a difference between the reference adjustment length and the first adjustment length satisfies a condition associated with the lanes of the road intersection and the corresponding traffic parameter, and adjusting the phases of the traffic light cycle at the road intersection based on the first adjustment length for each phase.
