The invention relates to a method for detecting parked vehicles and for collecting parking fees, wherein a transponder arranged in a vehicle repeatedly emits a detection signal which is received by at least three radio devices. On the basis of the detection signal, a position of the vehicle is calculated and an identifier of the transponder is determined, wherein it is detected whether the vehicle is in a parking space area and is parked. If the vehicle uses a parking space area for parking, an identifier of the transponder is transmitted to a registration server which determines a parking fee on the basis of a tariff for the parking space area which is used and, if necessary, initiates a payment process.

A method of identifying vehicles for parking management purposes marks out a parking fee paid or unpaid status when a target vehicle exits a parking area, the vehicle information comprising first and second license plate numbers. The first license plate number being entered by a vehicle-user, and the second license plate number being the license plate number as recognized from a first image taken by the parking system when the target vehicle enters the parking area. A third license plate number is taken from an image of the target vehicle when driving out of the parking area. The disclosure relates to a method for authenticating a motor vehicle to perform at least one procedure relating to a predetermined region able to be traveled through by the motor vehicle. When the motor vehicle approaches, the predetermined region is captured by a capturing device of the motor vehicle, and is identified accordingly. An identification message of the captured predetermined region is then output by the motor vehicle to a server device. Next, a request message for authenticating the motor vehicle is output in response to the identification message by the server device to a further server device associated with the predetermined region, and an authentication criterion is checked by the further server device.

A parking management system includes: a vacant slot sensor which detects a vacant slot among parking slots and creates vacant slot information indicating the position of the vacant slot; a vehicle information obtainment unit which obtains vehicle information of a vehicle; a first information obtainment unit which obtains first information indicating the presence or absence of a passenger of the vehicle; and a parking slot determination unit which determines a parking slot in which the vehicle is to be parked, and outputs the parking slot. A method to be executed by an information processing apparatus includes storing, for each parking space in a plurality of parking spaces, information indicating each vehicle or each user that is authorized to use the parking space, and warning or charging a first user of a first vehicle when the first vehicle enters or parks in a first parking space that neither the first vehicle nor the first user is authorized to use.

A parking lot guidance system includes: a determination unit configured to determine whether the parking lot is in a congested state based on a result of detection from a detection unit; a selection unit configured to select a predetermined number of empty spaces in the parking lot based on a determination from the determination unit; and a display unit configured to display the predetermined number of empty spaces. The selection unit selects the empty spaces from further inside in an extending direction of the vehicle passage in a first parking block which is a parking block including an empty space and being closer to a facility entrance provided at a position different from that of a parking lot entrance of the parking lot out of a plurality of parking blocks along a plurality of vehicle passages when the determination unit determines that the parking lot is in the congested state.
