Control arrangement for adjusting a distance between two vehicles and method for adjusting a distance between two vehicles using a control arrangement of this kind

A control arrangement for adjusting a desired distance between two vehicles includes a distance regulation system having a distance control device configured to adjust a first desired distance between a subject vehicle and a vehicle ahead depending on sensor signals received from a sensor system by requesting a first subject vehicle desired acceleration. The control arrangement further includes a communication system configured to wirelessly send and receive a surroundings data signal. The surroundings data signal contains surroundings information. The control arrangement additionally includes an assistance control device configured to determine a second desired distance between the subject vehicle and the vehicle ahead and a second subject vehicle desired acceleration for adjusting the second desired distance depending on the surroundings information received from the communication system. The distance control system comprises an ACC interface. A first interface signal is transferred via the ACC interface to the distance regulation system.

One variation of a method for accessing supplemental data from other vehicles includes, at an autonomous vehicle: recording a scan image of a scene around the autonomous vehicle at a first time; detecting insufficient perception data in a region of the scan image; in response to detecting insufficient perception data in the region, defining a ground area of interest containing the region and wirelessly broadcasting a query for perception data representing objects within the ground area of interest; in response to receiving supplemental perception data—representing objects within the ground area of interest detected by the second vehicle at approximately the first time—from a second vehicle proximal the scene, incorporating the supplemental perception data into the scan image to form a composite scan image; selecting a navigational action based on objects in the scene represented by the composite scan image; and autonomously executing the navigational action.

Systems and methods limit communication of redundant telematics data in V2X systems. A communications management device receives telematics data from multiple sources in a service area and calculates a trajectory each of the objects identified by the telematics data. The communications management device selects high vulnerability trajectories based on the calculated trajectories and identifies when the telematics data from different sources, of the multiple sources, corresponds to a same vehicle. When duplicate sources are determined to provide tracking data corresponding to the same vehicle, the communications management device reports (to a collision avoidance system) the tracking data from only the most accurate of the duplicate sources.

System and method for real-time lane validation

The subject disclosure relates to techniques for real-time lane validation. A process of the disclosed technologies can include steps for receiving a route from a remote computing system, the route indicating lanes on the route that an autonomous vehicle must traverse, traversing at least one lane of the lanes on the route, and sending sensor data to the remote computing system after traversing the at least one lane, the sensor data indicating whether the at least one lane is in accordance with a virtual lane of a virtual map, the virtual lane corresponding to the at least one lane.

Reporting road event data and sharing with other vehicles

Example systems and methods allow for reporting and sharing of information reports relating to driving conditions within a fleet of autonomous vehicles. One example method includes receiving information reports relating to driving conditions from a plurality of autonomous vehicles within a fleet of autonomous vehicles. The method may also include receiving sensor data from a plurality of autonomous vehicles within the fleet of autonomous vehicles. The method may further include validating some of the information reports based at least in part on the sensor data. The method may additionally include combining validated information reports into a driving information map. The method may also include periodically filtering the driving information map to remove outdated information reports. The method may further include providing portions of the driving information map to autonomous vehicles within the fleet of autonomous vehicles.

VEHICULAR ENVIRONMENT ESTIMATION DEVICE

Disclosed is a vehicular environment estimation device capable of accurately estimating a travel environment around own vehicle on the basis of a predicted route of a mobile object or the like, which is moving in a blind area. A vehicular environment estimation device that is mounted in the own vehicle detects a behavior of another vehicle in the vicinity of the own vehicle, and estimates a travel environment, which affects the traveling of another vehicle, on the basis of the behavior of another vehicle. For example, the presence of another vehicle, which is traveling in a blind area, is estimated on the basis of the behavior of another vehicle. Therefore, it is possible to estimate a vehicle travel environment that cannot be recognized by the own vehicle but can be recognized by another vehicle in the vicinity of the own vehicle.
