Exercise Machine Monitoring and Instruction System

An exercise machine monitoring and instruction system for the movement of an element of an exercise machine by an exerciser and providing automated feedback to the exerciser to help improve the exercise in real-time. The exercise machine monitoring and instruction system generally includes an exercise machine having a movable element that moves between a first position and a second position in a reciprocating manner, a sensor that detects a real-time position of the movable element, a processor in communication with the sensor to receive the real-time position data from the sensor related to a position of the movable element and a feedback device in communication with the processor that provides real-time instructions to the exerciser on how to adjust their workout to achieve a desired result.

REFLECTIVE VIDEO DISPLAY APPARATUS FOR INTERACTIVE TRAINING AND DEMONSTRATION AND METHODS OF USING SAME
20230001284 · 2023-01-05 · ·

A method includes capturing, using an Internet of Things (IoT) device, real-time video of a user performing an exercise associated with a first exercise class. Real-time video of the user is displayed, via a display, concurrently with video of an instructor, to provide a visual comparison of the user to the instructor. Image analysis of the real-time video of the user is performed to determine a performance of the user, and a representation thereof is displayed. Biometric data associated with the user is received at the IoT device from a wearable device at multiple points in time. Heart rates are identified based on the biometric data, and scores based on the heart rates are displayed via the display. A recommendation for a second exercise class different from the first exercise class is determined based on a profile of the user, and displayed via the display.

A smart mirror can show live or recorded streaming video of an instructor performing a workout in a package that is attractive and unobtrusive enough to hang in a living room. The smart mirror includes a mirror surface with a fully reflecting section and a partially reflecting section. A display behind the partially reflecting section shows the video when the smart mirror is on and is almost invisible when the smart mirror is off. The smart mirror also has a speaker, a microphone, and a camera to enable a user to view the video content and interact with the instructor. The smart mirror may connect to the user's smart phone, a peripheral device (e.g., a Bluetooth speaker) to augment user experience, a biometric sensor to provide biometric data to assess user performance, and/or a network router to connect the smart mirror to a content provider, an instructor, and/or other users.

SYSTEM FOR TRACKING AND DISPLAYING THE POSITION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE AND OF A USER
20230230503 · 2023-07-20 ·

Described is a system for tracking and displaying the position of a motor vehicle driven by a user with respect to a determined route and the position of said user with respect to said motor vehicle.

The system includes a first and a second data acquisition unit configured to instantaneously detect the position of the motor vehicle and of the user relative to the motor vehicle and to the determined route; a processing unit for generating an image of the position of the motor vehicle and of the user and a visual projection device.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR FACILITATING INTERACTIVE TRAINING OF BODY-EYE COORDINATION AND REACTION TIME
20230225635 · 2023-07-20 ·

A computer implemented method for facilitating training of body-eye coordination using a computing device having access to a camera is disclosed. The method includes receiving a training video of a player from the camera; superimposing a visual cue onto the training video; extracting a body posture flow of the player from the training video by performing a computer vision algorithm on one or more frames of the training video; determining whether the player has responded to the visual cue by analyzing the body posture flow of the player; and generating a feedback to the player in response to determining that the player has responded to the visual cue. Multi-player embodiments of the present invention are also disclosed.

Sports equipment with alterable characteristic

Articles of sports equipment, such as striking implements (e.g., sticks) and wearable articles (e.g., skates, helmets) for playing hockey or other activities, in which at least one of the characteristics (e.g., stiffness) of the articles of sports equipment is adaptable and can be altered during use of the sports equipment, such as by comprising an alterable component coupled to a controller, by comprising an alterable component that is autonomously alterable, and/or by an alterable component that can be altered in response to a command of a remote device.

EXERCISE SYSTEM AND METHOD

A method for displaying archived exercise classes comprising displaying information about archived exercise classes that can be accessed by a first user via a computer network on a display screen at a first location, wherein the first user can select among a plurality of archived classes, outputting digital video and audio content comprising the selected archived class, detecting a performance parameter for the first user at a particular point in the selected class, displaying the performance parameter on the display screen, and displaying performance parameters from a second user at a second location on the display screen such that at least one of the performance parameters from the first user and at least one of the performance parameters from the second user at the same point in the class are presented for comparison.

Measuring a pull force on an exercise band

A patient can undergo physical therapy to rehabilitate a musculoskeletal condition. The success of the rehabilitation relies in part on whether the patient uses an exercise band with the correct resistance for their condition. In order to select the correct resistance, a controller can instruct the patient to perform a directed movement with an exercise band, receive exercise data from at least one sensor (e.g., a camera, like a front-facing camera, that records the patient, a plurality of sensors on or near the patient's skin, etc.) as the subject performs the directed movement, and calculate a pull force exerted by the patient on the exercise band based on at least a portion of the exercise data. The adequacy of an exercise with the exercise band for the patient is determined based on the pull force can be determined based on the calculated pull force.

Automated Interval Pacer

Implemented is an interval timer with pacer functionality (referred to herein as “interval pacer” for short), enabling a user to work out to a given pace and then automatically switches to a resting period when the pre-set pace is complete. The interval pacer may be an instantiated application on a user’s computing device, such as a smartphone, smartwatch, head-mounted display (HMD) device, etc., or may be a standalone application instantiated on a dedicated computing device specifically designed for the interval pacer application. The interval pacer application is adapted to enhance previous interval timer applications by providing a customizable pacer option which is virtually a fully customizable solution for a user to have an individualized exercise plan. In addition, the interoperation of the pacer with the interval timer enriches workout sessions by pushing the user to stick with the user-set pace for the user-designated period.

According to one example, a training device includes a first set of time of flight sensors (ToF) positioned to face in a first direction, a plurality of addressable red, green, blue light emitting diodes (RGB LEDs) positioned to face in the first direction, and a second set of ToF sensors positioned to face in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. The training device includes and/or is in communication with one or more processors that can determine a training program for a user that includes visual signals that represent a plurality of actions for performance by the user. Also, for each of the plurality of actions, the training device can cause a first set of the plurality of addressable RGB LEDs to provide a visual indication of the corresponding action for performance by the user, and detect whether the user performed the corresponding action.
