Self-Expiring Identification Bands and Methods of Use Thereof

A self-expiring band structure is activated upon the contacting of two chemical constituents together. This contacting may be performed by the attachment action of the band or independently thereof. After a time duration has passed, the coaction of the chemical constituents result in a visually perceptible change can alert others to the fact the band has expired. These bands may be both printable, such as by a printer or other machine printing, as well as time-expiring making them a very versatile product that offer heightened security at the price point closer to that of a disposable item because they do not require complex infrastructure for validation.

The invention provides an amorphous copolymerized polyester raw material for a film. The raw material contains ethylene terephthalate as a main constituent component, and contains from 18% by mol to 30% by mol of neopentyl glycol when a total amount of a glycol component in a total polyester resin component is taken as 100% by mol. The raw material contains from 8% by mol to 16% by mol of a constituent unit derived from diethylene glycol in the total amount (100% by mol) of the glycol component in the total polyester resin component. The raw material has an intrinsic viscosity of from 0.70 dl/g to 0.86 dl/g. The raw material has a melt viscosity of 200 Pa.Math.S or less, when measured at a shear rate of 6080/S at 250° C.

As a result, patrons may be unable to distinguish their glass from others once they are set down on a table. Unintentionally swapping glasses can be unsanitary and wasteful (increasing costs for the host of the event). To solve these problems, the inventors have created an easy way for people to mark their glassware with individualized stickers that are easy to remove at the conclusion of a gathering.

The invention is water-soluble stickers that are designed around the theme of the gathering. Guests select from a set of unique stickers and adhere one to their glass—they work on all glassware (even without stems). At the end of the gathering, the host can easily remove the drink markers by running the glassware under water or by placing them in the dishwasher as they normally would.

A substance is disposed between the absorbent medium and the transparent substrate. The substance comprises a fourth color that contrasts with only the first color of the first and second colors and is meltable and absorbed by the absorbent medium in response to a temperature exceeding a temperature threshold.

The heat-shrinkable polyester-based film contains 60-95 mol % ethylene terephthalate units in 100 mol % of all ester units, 5-40 mol % diethylene glycol in 100 mol % of the polyhydric alcohol component, and 0-5 mol % constituent units derived from a monomer component that can be an amorphous component in all polyester resin components, in which the hot water heat shrinkage ratio, the puncture strength of the film, the density of the film, and the refractive index in the longitudinal direction of the film are within predetermined ranges when the film is immersed in hot water at 90° C. for 10 seconds.
