Display device

An attenuation portion is to illuminate first and second display objects while attenuating light. A display element causes light to enter the attenuation portion to illuminate the first display object in a display region. A light source irradiates light to illuminate the second display object in the display region. A display forming member has a light-blocking layer and an attenuation layer. The light-blocking layer has a light-transmitting portion defining a shape of the second display object. The attenuation layer covers the light-blocking layer from a display region side to attenuate light, which is from the light source and passes through the light-transmitting portion. The display forming member indicates the second display object in the display region with emission of light which is attenuated through the attenuation layer and enters the attenuation portion.

A display switching device includes a light source emitting light having a first polarization direction and light having a second polarization direction different from the first polarization direction, a first polarizing plate having a first display region configured to transmit light in the first polarization direction and display a first display mark, and a second polarizing plate having a second display region configured to transmit light in the second polarization direction and display a second display mark. The second polarizing plate is arranged such that the first display region at least partially overlaps with the second display region. At least a part of one of the first display region and the second display region includes a mixed part in which a polarization part with a polarizing function and a non-polarization part without any polarizing function are mixed.

A display switching device includes a light source emitting light having a first polarization direction and light having a second polarization direction different from the first polarization direction, a first polarizing plate having a first display region configured to transmit light in the first polarization direction and display a first display mark, and a second polarizing plate having a second display region configured to transmit light in the second polarization direction and display a second display mark. The second polarizing plate is arranged such that the first display region at least partially overlaps with the second display region. An apparatus for presenting an image on a mirrored display includes an electronic display having backlight and a viewing area. A cover glass has a surface area is positioned in front of and substantially parallel with the electronic display such that the surface area substantially covers the viewing area. A reflective layer located on and substantially coextensive with said cover glass is partially silvered where the reflective layer is located above the viewing area and substantially fully silvered on the remaining surface thereof.

An apparatus for presenting an image on a mirrored display includes an electronic display having backlight and a viewing area. A cover glass has a surface area is positioned in front of and substantially parallel with the electronic display such that the surface area substantially covers the viewing area. A reflective layer located on and substantially coextensive with said cover glass is partially silvered where the reflective layer is located above the viewing area and substantially fully silvered on the remaining surface thereof.
