Systems, methods, and computer readable media to improve the operation of a computer's display system are described. In general, techniques are disclosed for retaining glyph-mask information for text associated with a region that may be arbitrarily moved across a screen. More particularly, techniques disclosed herein utilize an additional off-screen buffer referred to as the glyph-mask buffer. The glyph-mask buffer coincides with an existing side buffer in extent, but is used only to retain anti-aliased glyph information (i.e., glyph-masks). When the side buffer's content is updated, the effect of that update on the region's text may be reflected in an update to the glyph-mask buffer. At display time, the region corresponding to the side buffer, and the text therein, may be properly rendered at any screen location by combining the screen's target display area (background), the side buffer and the glyph-mask buffer.

Described herein are systems and methods that reduce power consumption for an electronics device including a display. The systems and methods alter video information in a display area and reduce power for a display device when a graphics item is enlarged and the enlargement threatens to increase perceived luminance for the graphics item or increase aggregate luminance for the display area. Altering the video information reduces the luminance of video information in at least the graphics item when enlarged. This may offset perceived luminance gained by human visual processing when an item increases in size. If the graphics item is smaller than the display area after enlargement, then other video information in the display area may also be altered to conserve power.

A light emission current efficiency calculation unit obtains a light emission current efficiency for each pixel referring to an LUT, based on a measured operating temperature and the initial current ratio. A first correction unit corrects a video signal for each pixel in view of characteristics of each pixel, based on the current measurement result and the light emission current efficiency. A second correction unit obtains a correction term for each pixel in view of a difference in the light emission current efficiency compared to neighboring pixels, based on a two-dimensional distribution of the light emission current efficiency. The correction term obtained by the second correction unit is added to the video signal corrected to obtain a corrected video signal.

A graphics system interleaves a combination of graphics renderer operations and compute shader operations. A set of API calls is analyzed to determine dependencies and identify candidates for interleaving. A compute shader is adapted to have a tiled access pattern. The interleaving is scheduled to reduce a requirement to access an external memory to perform reads and writes of intermediate data.
