GENERATING DYNAMIC VIRTUAL MASK LAYERS FOR CUTOUT REGIONS OF DISPLAY PANELS
20230154440 · 2023-05-18 ·

Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for generating, in a display panel, a virtual mask layer around a cutout region for a front camera. The front camera may be positioned under the display panel and receive light through the cutout region. The mask layer may hide defects of the cutout region that does not have functional pixels. The disclosed techniques may improve aesthetic appearance of displays having punch-hole cameras with reduced hole sizes and increased production quality conformance rate.

Sharing virtual content in a mixed reality scene

A method of sharing and a method of presenting virtual content in a mixed reality scene rendered on at least two user devices having different viewing position and/or orientation onto the mixed reality scene and corresponding apparatus are described. At a first user device, a user is enabled to select a virtual content to be shared and a second user device with whom the virtual content is to be shared. Information related to the virtual content to be shared is provided, wherein the provided information comprises the 3D position of the virtual content to be shared. The information is received by the second user device and the shared virtual content is rendered with regard to the viewing position and/or orientation of the second user device onto the mixed reality scene.

Image processing device and method

An image processing device having a processor coupled to a memory. The processor is programmed to process two or more media formats stored in the memory, each media format is made up of one or more digital image layers that includes non-transparent pixels and may include transparent pixels. The processor is programmed to: set the non-transparent pixels in each of the digital image layer of the two or more media formats to a contrast state, set pixels stored in an off-screen data buffer of the memory to pixels corresponding to a predetermined color scheme, apply an image function to each media format that is drawn to the off-screen data buffer so as to allow the plurality of overlapping media formats to be displayed on the display screen as see through.

Display apparatus and method of driving the same

A display apparatus includes an optical module, a display panel and a display panel driver. The display panel is disposed on the optical module. The display panel driver is configured to drive the display panel. The display panel includes a first display area including at least a portion overlapping with the optical module and a second display area not overlapping with the optical module in a plan view. The first display area includes pixels having a first pixel structure. The second display area includes pixels having a second pixel structure different from the first pixel structure.

Method and system for improved visibility in blended layers for high dynamic range displays

There are many instances where a standard dynamic range (“SDR”) overlay is displayed over high dynamic range (“HDR”) content on HDR displays. Because the overlay is SDR, the maximum brightness of the overlay is much lower than the maximum brightness of the HDR content, which can lead to the SDR elements being obscured if those elements have at least some transparency. The present disclosure provides techniques including modifying the luminance of either or both of the HDR and SDR content when an SDR layer with some transparency is displayed over HDR content. A variety of techniques are provided. In one example, a fixed adjustment is applied to pixels of one or both of the SDR layer and the HDR layer. The fixed adjustment comprises decreasing the luminance of the HDR layer and/or increasing the luminance of the SDR layer. In another example, a variable adjustment is applied.

VEHICULAR TRAILER HITCHING ASSIST SYSTEM
20230202388 · 2023-06-29 ·

A vehicular trailer hitching assist system includes a rear backup camera disposed at a rear portion of a vehicle and a control disposed in the vehicle. A display device includes a video display screen operable to display video images for viewing by a driver of the vehicle. Responsive to the driver initiating a hitching maneuver event by engaging reverse gear of the vehicle, rear backup video images derived from image data captured by the rear backup camera are displayed at the video display screen. An overlay overlays the displayed rear backup video images and aids in guiding connection of a trailer hitch of the equipped vehicle to a trailer tongue of a trailer. Continued display of rear backup video images that are overlaid by the overlay is ceased upon elapse of a threshold period of time or upon exceeding a threshold speed or upon exceeding a threshold distance traveled.

METHODS AND APPARATUS FOR REDUCING SPATIAL FLICKER ARTIFACTS

Various embodiments of the present technology may comprise a method and apparatus for reducing spatial flicker artifacts in high dynamic range images produced from multiple image captures with differing integration times. The method and apparatus may comprise, in the image captures, measuring pixel intensity selecting pixels with a predetermined intensity thresholds, calculating a ratio based on a channel selection, normalizing the calculated ratio to an ideal ratio, and applying the normalized ratio to corresponding image pixels in a second image capture to produce a flicker-free image.

Visual indicator for paused radar gestures

This document describes techniques and systems that enable a visual indicator for paused radar gestures. The techniques and systems use a radar field to enable an electronic device to accurately determine radar gestures, or other movement, by a user. Further, the electronic device can determine certain conditions that can make it difficult for the electronic device to properly determine the user's radar gestures. When the device includes an application that can be controlled using radar gestures (a radar-gesture application), and the conditions are present, the device can enter a gesture-paused mode. When the device enters this mode, the techniques provide a gesture-paused feedback element on a display, which lets the user know that there is at least one radar-gesture application available or running on the electronic device but that radar gestures cannot presently be used to control the application.
