VARIABLE GLYPH ENCODING
20170337902 · 2017-11-23 ·

A system and method for graphically encoding text. A textual data set comprising a plurality of encoded text characters that corresponding to at least one text character to be visually rendered is received. Based on the textual data set, a drawing instruction set is determined that has a respective drawing instruction to draw at least part of a glyph of each of the encoded text characters. Each at least one drawing instruction excludes an indication of a correspondence with an associated text character code, and each respective at least one drawing instruction for a specified text character excludes instructions to repeat other drawing instructions for other instances of the specified text character.

Method for coding data

A method for coding data includes: representing a first data in digital form as digital information; transforming the digital information into a first Gaussian integer; determining a relationship between the first Gaussian integer and a second Gaussian integer; and deriving, based on the determined relationship, a key for converting between the first Gaussian integer and the second Gaussian integer so as to associate the first data with a second data represented by the second Gaussian integer. The present invention also provides a system and a non-transient computer readable medium for implementing the method.

Acquisition of a Font Portion Using a Compression Mechanism
20170249286 · 2017-08-31 ·

Acquisition of a font portion using a compression mechanism is described. In certain embodiments, an end-user device determines multiple characters to be displayed but are missing from a local font. The end-user device computes a compressed representation of the multiple characters based on multiple code points corresponding to the multiple characters. The end-user device transmits a font request including the compressed representation to a font repository. The font request may be implemented as a uniform resource locator (URL). The font repository, such as a server, decodes the compressed representation to identify at least the multiple code points encoded by the end-user device. The font repository prepares a font description including glyph data corresponding to the multiple code points and returns the font description. The end-user device produces a local font that includes at least multiple glyphs corresponding to the multiple requested characters. The local font production may include font augmentation.

A display device includes: a display unit including pixels arranged in a matrix therein, each of the pixels including a first sub-pixel that displays a first color component, a second sub-pixel that displays a second color component, a third sub-pixel that displays a third color component, and a fourth sub-pixel that displays a fourth color component; and a signal processing unit that receives input signals that are capable of being displayed with the first sub-pixel, the second sub-pixel, and the third sub-pixel, and calculates output signals to the first, second, third, and fourth sub-pixels. The signal processing unit generates converted input signals with changed saturation among the input signals. The signal processing unit calculates output signals to the first sub-pixel, the second sub-pixel, and the third sub-pixel based on the converted input signals and an amount of increase in brightness caused by the fourth sub-pixel.

SERIAL TEXT DISPLAY FOR OPTIMAL RECOGNITION APPARATUS AND METHOD

Various embodiments are disclosed that relate to serially displaying text on an electronic display using techniques for placement of an optimal recognition position of words at a fixed display location. In some embodiments, an optimal recognition position character is displayed at the fixed display location. In other embodiments, an optimal recognition proportionate position is displayed at the fixed display location. Various related techniques for processing and displaying text are further disclosed herein.

Adjusting a display size of text
09817796 · 2017-11-14 · ·

This is directed to adjusting the size of displayed text in response to receiving user instructions. An electronic device can display text or other content using one or more default sizes. A user can direct the device to increase a display size of text by providing a corresponding input. In response to receiving the instruction, the electronic device can increase the display size of the text and display the beginning of the text (e.g., the beginning of a sentence), even though an input may be detected in a region near the end of the text. In some cases, when the user instructs the device to increase the display size of text beyond a maximum level, the electronic device can provide an audio output corresponding to the text instead of or in addition to increasing the display size of the text.
