A two-layer image display device includes a back side LCD, a transparent screen, and a lower side LCD. The back side LCD displays an image on a display screen. The transparent screen is disposed on a front side of the display screen of an image display device. The lower side LCD projects an image from a lower position of the transparent screen. The transparent screen reflects, with directivity, light incident at a predetermined angle and includes an anisotropic optical film which transmits light incident at an angle other than the predetermined incident angle. The lower side LCD is disposed at a position where the image incident at the predetermined angle is projected and reflected on the transparent screen. The back side LCD is disposed at a position where incident light from an image displayed on the display screen transmits through the transparent screen.

Methods and Apparatus for Repositioning a Computer Display Based on Eye Position

Methods, systems, and computer program products are provided that facilitate a user operating a computing device in an atypical body position, such as using a computing device while lying in a horizontal position. An exemplary computer-implemented method can include providing an adjustable display for a computing system of a user; obtaining one or more images of the user from a vicinity of the adjustable display; evaluating a relative position of one or more of eyes and ears of the user and the adjustable display using the one or more images to determine whether the user is facing the adjustable display; and readjusting one or more of a position and an orientation of the adjustable display based on the relative position.

According to embodiments of the invention, apparatuses and devices are directed towards a modular electrofluidic display. The electrofluidic display may be capable of displaying imagery both on a front side and a rear side of a display. This is carried out by adding a fourth oil layer to a display panel which traditionally may have employed two or three oil layers. In a traditional display mode, the color of the oil on the fourth layer may serve as the background color of the pixel. Light from the rear is blocked by the fourth oil layer. In a mode where both sides of the display are required to display images, the oil in the background layer may be displaced with a voltage applied so that light can traverse to all the colored oils from both front end as well as the back end of the display.
