This application discloses an overcurrent protection method, an overcurrent protection circuit, and a display device. The overcurrent protection method includes: setting an overcurrent protection value as an overcurrent protection threshold of a current clock signal branch; enabling the overcurrent protection threshold, and controlling to turn off a level shifting circuit; detecting a real-time current of a current clock signal branch in a first substrate row driving circuit; and comparing the real-time current with the overcurrent protection threshold, and when the real-time current is greater than or equal to the overcurrent protection threshold, cutting off a power supply of the current clock signal branch in the first substrate row driving circuit, and enabling overcurrent protection.

Local passive matrix display

Local passive matrix displays and methods of operation are described. In an embodiment, the display includes a pixel driver chip coupled with a matrix of rows and columns of LEDs. The pixel driver chips may be arranged in rows across the display with separate portions to operate separate matrices of LEDs.

A display device includes: a first pixel driver to generate a control current; a second pixel driver to generate a driving current, and control a period during which the driving current flows, based on the control current; and a light-emitting element connected to the second pixel driver to receive the driving current. The first pixel driver includes: a first transistor to generate the control current based on a first data voltage; and a second transistor to provide the first data voltage to a first electrode of the first transistor based on a scan write signal from a scan write line. The second pixel driver includes: a third transistor to generate the driving current based on the control current; and a fourth transistor to provide a second data voltage to a first electrode of the third transistor based on a scan write signal from the scan write line.
